We were looking for a restaurant with truly authentic food for a couple’s outing, and we found it at La Coccinella Siciliana. It is a cozy restaurant in the town of Desenzano, right in front of Lake Garda. We had the good fortune of visiting on a sunny September day, with pleasantly fresh weather.

The first thing that stands out about the restaurant is the outstanding service from Andrea, who welcomed us as if we were guests in his own home. He was incredibly warm and attentive from the very moment he took our order, explained the menu, brought the dishes, and throughout the entire lunch.

We ordered a Caesar salad that tasted homemade, with fresh ingredients and seasoning that was absolutely delicious. We also tried a pasta dish with lake sardine sauce, walnuts, fennel, and grated cheese, prepared according to the authentic recipe of Andrea’s grandmother, refined over the years. Both dishes were only outshined by Andrea’s own kind and cheerful service.

When we arrived, the terrace was still quiet, and we were welcomed with just the right amount of friendliness, not too much, not over the top, simply perfect. The staff, including the owner and their lovely dog, what a sweetheart, made us feel instantly at ease.

We started with bread and appetizers from the house, served with sublime olive oil, absolutely delicious. The menu offered a great selection, the food was excellent, and the portions were generous. The price-to-quality ratio was truly outstanding.

After the meal, we left a tip, which they clearly did not expect, and were then offered coffee on the house, or water for the kids to take on the road. We had enough at the time, but it was a lovely gesture and something to remember for next time.

The flair and personal attention were a breath of fresh air, and felt completely genuine. Yes, the village thrives on tourism, but the kindness here is real, not put on. As a family, we had a wonderful afternoon....
