SOTTOVENTO — Restaurant in Desenzano del Garda

no authenticity. not at all.

i really enjoyed my day in Desenzano and wanted to dine in. I trusted my gut feeling and came along this restaurant which looked pretty nice and had a beautiful view. But as soon as i entered, i was proofed wrong. Crumbs and stains on the napkins and table, i didn’t made my mind up. I ordered tagliatelle with scampi and lemon. The service was very cold, distant and they truly wanted to get things over fast. They didn’t speak english or if just very poorly and responded very concerned whenever i spoke to them. After a few minutes my pasta arrived, very suddenly; i was quite supprised. As soon as the waiter came to my table i thought that this was supposed to be a joke. Literally the smallest portion of pasta ever imaginable. The scampi all over the place, the noodles were clumping together and were also cold. The other food came 10-15min later, meanwhile i already finished eating and was just really sad. Additionally the waitress responded very cold and stressed while i asked for a spoon (otherwise i had one big lump of noodles on my fork, because it was just soooo clumped together). Later the waitress wanted to take the plates away, but didn’t even asked if we were finished or if the food was fine. She literally took my mum’s plate WHILE SHE WAS STILL EATING. All in all, i wish i looked into the reviews and i hope other people avoid this...

I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant and feel compelled to share it.

We were sitting outside under a tree, trying to enjoy what we thought would be a nice meal. Unfortunately, an incident occurred where something fell on me from above—likely from a bird—and I ended up completely dirty. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable, and to make things worse, none of the staff offered any help or even showed concern. Instead, they laughed about it, which was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.

Later, when we tried to place our order, the service didn’t improve. The waiter seemed careless and uninterested. When they brought our food, they practically threw the plates on the table without a word. The whole experience felt rushed, unwelcoming, and far from the level of service one would expect from a proper dining establishment.

I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for good service or basic...

The location is great and by that, i mean the square arou d the mini harbour where the restaurant is located. which is why i gave 3 stars for atmosphere but not more because the staff was a bit hopeless and running like headless chickens.. When the food arrived, the portion was super small to the point we stood at it for a minute in chock. In comparison, this was the smallest and the most disappointing meal of a 7 days around the lake. One portion arrived 15mn after the first one. The service was poor, the guys were running around without allocated zones. At the end we waited another 10mn to get the bill.. just like 2 other tables. I have to be honest I wanted to do a runner but my wife didn't want to. She ended up arguing with the boss! He refused to give away anything and was very aggressive.
