Cestello Firenze | Ristorante di pesce — Restaurant in Florence

It’s possible we came on an off night, because there a loads of good reviews here. However…our experience does not feel the same.

We were a table of 2 sat at a booth for 8+ people. The table was nice, but watching the serving staff have to uncomfortably wiggle in and out of the booth for water, silverware, plates, everything…was extremely awkward.

We had a couple of good bites, but it was all just fresh seafood with very little chef intervention outside of grilling shrimp or slicing sashimi. Sashimi was undressed and the oysters were not shucked properly, so we had to dig them out ourselves. (For €8/oyster, that’s unacceptable) There were 3 complimentary chef tasting bites that…well, we almost spit out. Actually really terrible.

And then there’s the price. We’ll happily pay higher price for incredible experience and food. Unfortunately this was not that. You’re looking at almost $50 for an appetizer that is disappointing. $20 for a cocktail that was very small and not even made with the proper menu ingredients. Overall I just cannot fathom a way to justify the high prices. So much so that we grabbed our check after the first course and walked somewhere else for dinner.

This hidden gem in Florence is truly a must-visit destination. Conveniently located nearby, yet tucked away in a tranquil setting, it offers a delightful escape from the bustling city center.

From the moment you step inside, the attention to detail in every aspect of this establishment is truly remarkable. Despite our late arrival, we decided to take a seat at the bar and indulge in some exquisite drinks accompanied by fresh oysters.

The cocktails here are nothing short of artistry, meticulously crafted with great precision. Although we didn't have the opportunity to sample the food, observing the dishes being served from our vantage point at the bar, everything appeared to be flawlessly presented.

Moreover, the customer service provided was unparalleled. Our bartender exuded both friendliness and an exceptional level of professionalism, ensuring a memorable experience.

If you find yourself in Florence, this establishment undoubtedly deserves a place on your itinerary.

Let yourself be blown away by this hidden gem of a restaurant where TRUE passion for hospitality, food and wine pairings with cool beats in the background gives you the total package of a evening that will have you talking about this place and the experience you had for years to come!!!!!!We were told about Cestello by Paolo our Concierge at Villa Medici and will be forever grateful for the tip that had us have one of our best meals and evenings out for years. Francisco our server and Juan our Sommelier had us try the blind 5 course menu and wine pairing that from the get go had us guessing the many flavors exploding across our taste buds.
