Initially we were bummed about the closing of the gelateria that was previously listed at this location. We had good memories there so my boyfriend and I came to check in person if it was indeed true.
Instead we found Nuvola in its place and I guess we had been eating average gelato until that point because this place is gooooooooood, like “open your eyes,” “wow” good. We got amarena, limone, and pineapple the first time we went, all of which was fantastic. The second time we got mango, pistacchio (which I learned is actually pronounced pis-tack-io in Italian), and pistacchio dream, the latter of which is made with ricotta. I didn’t get to ask if the wafers placed on top of the gelato are made in house but those were wonderful too!! They were thin and crunchy, with a touch of sweetness. Yum!
The owners were also friendly and it’s obvious they take pride in what they do. My only regret is not being able to have more, but I leave with great memories and a more distinguished palate for high quality gelato....

Technically, the gelato's creaminess is inconsistent. In some flavors, there were small ice crystals, which detracted from the smoothness and overall experience. This indicates that the freezing process could use some refinement to achieve a more consistent, velvety texture.
The cones were also disappointing. They were of the molded variety, fragile, and lacked the crispness you’d expect from a top-tier gelateria. With so many great options in Florence, this place is decent, but it doesn't quite stand out in the city's competitive...
Read moreGelato has now reached a whole new plane of existence for me! My family of six found this AMAZING place on accident and couldn't stop raving about it. We had to work really hard not to come back an hour later and buy more!! The texture of the gelato at this new location (open two weeks ago) is so smooth and easily the best in the city and the best we have had in Italy! The flavors were unique and powerful. Anton was FANTASTIC and really loves his craft. We could tell he loves his work and his shop. We have bookmarked this location and will ALWAYS come back here for more amazing gelato! Try the pistachio or the salted caramel and you won't be disappointed!...
