A man who we assumed to be the manager/owner of this restaurant foisted his business card upon us at the end our meal and insisted we wrote a review of his restaurant. Average is how I would describe the food. Like every other restaurant around here, they are churning out Italian food for tourists. I’ve had far better Italian food but wouldn’t have minded so much if it wasn’t for the man running the place.
Ironically the man who insisted we left a review spent most of our meal conducting a conversation on his phone while on speaker. He seemed oblivious to us and his other customers and was arrogant enough not to consider how he might be disturbing our meals as he continued his phone call at the top of his voice. He even served two groups of customers, taking money from them while on the phone. After he’d finished his phone call he sat at one of the vacant tables and played candy crush on full volume. We decided it was time to get the bill and leave after he sneezed twice without covering his face which put us off of ordering anything else.
On the subject of hygiene, unfortunately his two waiters clearly skipped their showers this morning and if they’re willing to come to work smelling of BO it does make you wonder what their attitudes to hygiene are in the restaurant/kitchen.
An average restaurant, average food, average location, poor staff and an entitled attitude from the manager who clearly thinks he can churn out mediocre Italian food in return for good reviews from tourists. There are plenty of nicer restaurants in Florence. I would definitely not...
Read moreYou can expect touristy prices when you eat at a restaurant on a busy street or by a tourist attraction, and this place is no exception to that rule. I paid €15 for a Caesar salad with 4 pieces of chicken breast (about half a breast). The sauce was not Caesar dressing as it included no anchovies, but it was tasty enough - made from herbs and capers. The rest was nice, with fresh croutons and tasty parmigiano and salad. €3 coperto (table charge) is also pretty steep. I've only ever come across that in the fanciest restaurants, with good selections of bread and an expensive table cloth; this place had neither. I would have left 4 stars, which I think is generous, as the food was decent tasting and it's in a touristy area.
However, the waiters were pushy with their upselling to the point of being obnoxious. And the manager/owner was inexcusably racist when talking about a Russian/Italian lady who was looking at the menu outside. This lady was reading the menu when approached by the manager and spoke in Italian with him, turned to speak with her husband in Russian, and again spoke with the manager in Italian, letting him know they wouldn't be dining with them. When they walked away, the manager shouted a couple of Russian words at his colleagues, before saying to them in Italian (loud enough for us to hear): "Italian!? Italian!? If she's Italian then I'm a f**ng Mexican!"
I'd avoid this place unless you don't mind paying inflated prices to support a...
Read moreAs already said before, this is a tourist trap. The place is incredibly dirty: glasses, plates, cutlery, tables, chairs, windows... You name it! The toilet hasn't seen a cloth in ages! I'm not OCD but a bit of hygiene where you eat is mandatory. I can't even imagine how dirty the kitchen must be. 🙈 The food, as many already said here, is tasteless. I don't know how they can manage that, as if you resource food locally in Italy, it's impossible to end up being tasteless. I really wonder where the food comes from, especially the pasta... Our drinks have never arrived. They only do if you order expensive bottles of wine. We do have the budget to buy an expensive bottle of wine, but we don't have alcohol at lunch time. If you think you can solve anything by taking to the manager, you're wrong. The chap looks half Turkish and he's extremely rude. His English is terrible and all he do is to shrug his shoulders and give you an ugly face. While the rest of the staff half works, even at peak time, the manager definitely neither helps the staff, nor supervises them. He's there just for show. Tuscan tradition... Where? The good reviews must be from family and friends, as it's impossible to give 5 stars to a place like that. Run really fast and as far as you...
