Ristorante Dante e Beatrice — Restaurant in Florence

Extremely disappointed. I had come to Florence for a Christmas holiday and I decided to take my family for a meal to this restaurant which looked amazing. Where the service was good and the prices were reasonable, we were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of the toilets in the building so much so that we would have walked out of this restaurant having seen the toilets before ordering our food. Furthermore, 3 of our party of 6 had horrendous stomach cramps, vomiting and explosive diarrhea the following morning due to food positioning from this restaurants abhorrent hygiene standards. I therefore cannot recommend anybody to visit this restaurant whatsoever unless you have no regard for the priceless health of yourself and other people that you may take to this restaurant.

This restaurant replied to my earlier review in a hostile and unacceptable manner claiming that we ate on Christmas evening which we did not. Sometimes you just happen to come over a restaurant that meet all your expectations of what a good restaurant is suppose to be like. For me it is the first impression, the welcome and then the "small talk" between the guest and the waiter. Then comes the moment where you are asked to have a choise of table, you sit down and then are asked if you like water, still or sparkling? Then menue time.

First time we had chicken breast and risotto, very good.

Next day we had pappardelle with wild boar, excellent (! Best I ever had in Italy) and risotto.

Third time, the 80 euro deal on the Bistecca Fiorentina, with starters, wine and dessert. It is a 2 persone deal, so.... day before we had asked if it was possible to have a 3 person deal. Today we got the same answer, of cause, what ever we would like to do, they would accommodate. To make a long story short.

Food; excellent, steak done to perfection. Service; excellent all 3 times.

Compementary Limoncello, which was very good.

Just how I or we, like a restaurant We will be back when in Firenze next...

Well, i should have read other reviews about this restaurant’s service beforehand.

For the foreigner, the menu is unclearly state that ‘spaghetti with tomatoes sauce and basil/oil and garlic hot pepper so that i got spaghetti with tomatoes sauce only instead of garlic and hot pepper that i want. It was my fault that didn’t get it clear before order but the staff is talking so unconsidered and talking like ‘well you didn’t order that well, we can’t do anything about it it was clearly state that it is different dish’ is it because of i’m Asian so you talk and look at me like i’m so stupid? Sorry for not understand the slash in the menu.

So, i’m writing to foreigner for fyi that, in Italy, if you see a slash in the menu even though it’s in the same line, it a different dishes.

And tomatoes sauce is not that delicious but okay it’s reasonable with the price of 9 euro. The truffle cream is smell so so good but the inside is tasteless. Liver is bad, so raw. This is unbiased statement confirmed by my other friends. However, the chicken breast...
