During my visit to Florence, I took an exceptional pasta-making class with the same people who also happened to be starting their own restaurant. Located across the street from the historic Sant'Ambrogio market, the recently opened restaurant Sfoglia Re is an excellent spot for breakfast, lunch, or brunch! The restaurant has a charming, non-touristy atmosphere; however, both locals and visitors will find something delightful on the eclectic menu. The ambiance is both sophisticated and neighborly. I visited multiple times over two weeks; one day, I savored an incredible Cacio e Pepe (fresh pasta) and also decided to try their version of the clubhouse sandwich. I was not disappointed by either dish. In fact, their take on the clubhouse is so delicious that I returned for another the following week. She was warm, outgoing, attentive, and genuinely kind — going out of her way to make us feel welcome and well taken care of. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her energy was the perfect start to our day.

This place completely blew me away. It’s tucked a little further outside the main tourist buzz, which honestly makes it even better!

My friends went for breakfast and were raving about every bite, but I stuck to a pasta (because, when in Italy…). It was one of the best pastas I’ve had on this trip, so thoughtfully put together, perfectly balanced, and you can tell every ingredient was chosen with care.
