Osteria del Gambero Rosso — Restaurant in Milan

I personally was expecting more of this place after reading some of the reviews. The place is nice, we were served I think by the owner and he was lovely and very professional. The food came fast and the wine they recommended us was just what we were looking for. The starters were really good. Don’t ask me what we order as I don’t remember. Something with artichokes and something with Prawns.

The little disappointment came with the mains. The Tagliata was well cooked as we ordered but a little hard and not very tasty. Probably that was because it was not beef but ox and its meet is harder than a cow. The pasta with cheese and truffle was great!, but the pasta with shrimps and tomato sauce was just ok. So a nice place but we just were not lucky with some of the plates. Otherwise, it would be a 5 stars.

Next time I am in Milano, I will give them another...

Very Happy with the food and overall experience here! We set up a reservation last minute for 5, and they were able to accommodate us. Several restaurants in the area were busy and fully booked, so it was nice to finally land on a spot to eat.

The server/ most likely the restaurant manager took our order. He didn't have to write anything down, which was nice. He suggested a few appetizers and some wine for the table.

Appetizers were really good. Burrata E Pomodori Salmone Marinato (My Favorite) Tartare Di Tonno Sformato Di Carcio

Dinner was also very good! We ordered several plates and shared.

The best dish that we all agreed on was the Truffle Pasta (Tagliolini al tartufo nero) and a chef special dish, Paccheri allo spada, pesto casereccio e pomodorini. This dish had pesto and swordfish.

Would definitely recommend...

Amazing food, and an even more amazing owner. I stumbled in here one night 3 years ago. It was so great, I went back the following 2 nights. That 3rd night was my last night in town. Was talking with the owner about my trip. As I was leaving, I see the owner running down the street after me, with a bottle of wine in hand to give me. As I never check bags, I told him hold on to it until my next visit. 2 years later, I came back to Milan and in for dinner. Owner recognizes me immediately, gives me the best table in the house, and brings over the bottle of wine he's been saving for 2 years. Every trip to Milan, I make sure I stop by.
