I had read previous reviews stating the ambience/atmosphere was good and that the food was excellent etc. First impressions for me and my wife were " what a miserable bunch of people on the staff". There was an older guy, early fifties who was ok but still wouldn't be on my party guest list, as for the younger staff, total personality bypasses and only one level above being rude. I speak intermediate level Italian and most service staff love that I've made the effort to learn and reciprocate in kind by congratulating my efforts and helping me correct the many mistakes i make in a friendly and welcoming way. The staff here completely ignored my attempts at speaking Italian and just kept replying monotonously in English, no effort made to engage or to be friendly. I asked several times for a glass of red wine and never recieved it, the food was ok but nothing special, pricing wasn't overly expensive. I enjoy tipping staff as myself and my wife have worked several low paid jobs where tips are a real boost to poor wages but the staff here were so, it's hard to say rude or impolite, just completely disengaged and uninterested that other than the compulsory? coperta ( cover charge) i didnt tip anything, something I never do. The food could have been the best ever but I would never return to a place where the customer doesn't...
Read moreWhat an amazing place A Cucina Di Casa Mia is. You need to explore the back streets that run off the main tourist site of Piazza del Plebiscito and the Opera House to find this treasure but it’s totally worth it.
The outside is unassuming and the inside looks like the home of any Italian family, small and welcoming, full of colour, photographs, and smell of deliciousness wafting throughout. But it’s the food that is really something to savour. May I recommend the con le vongole (spaghetti with clams) and you will not be disappointed with the beautiful delicate balance of fresh seafood with herbs and cherry tomatoes. The house white was generous and with Tiramisu and Limoncello to follow our evening was full of atmosphere interspersed with local families dropping in for supper. And here is the key point of my review: if you want to sample the cuisine of Napoli go to your Italian mama’s or nonna’s kitchen - in this case A Cucina Di Casa Mia. You will not be disappointed and will leave with a feeling of la dolce vita eating with the Neapolitans who certainly know that good food comes from the Italian...
Read moreThe entire experience was terrible. Upon arrival, the service was poor.
The waiter brought the water without providing the menu! I assumed, like in the rest of Europe, water is complimentary. Instead, the waiter chose the most expensive option without offering a choice between the $1 and $3 options.
None of the pasta options I requested were available. He recommended the pasta of the day or the fish options (the most expensive on the menu)
The pasta was basic, resembling store-bought ones you cook at home.
They forgot to bring the cheese.
The two Italians working there rushed me and were rude. It seemed they treated the three other waiters the same way (they are immigrants, and they were nice). The Italian waiter overwhelmed them constantly. I could see the frustration on their faces, which made me feel bad for them. Treat people with respect!
They charge a $2 cover fee, not mentioned anywhere until you receive the bill.
The place is well decorated, but I won't share the pretty pictures I took as I don't want to promote such a...
