The food was very good and tasty, service was excellent (the first time only). So we decided to come again, and we got hardly disappointed.
the waitress was much less nice than our first visit, very expeditive, and tried to give us a table outside without the panoramic view (which is actually one of the reason we selected this place, among others). also, we reserve through the fork because we had an extra discount of 20% WHICH WAS NOT applied at payment (I noticed the error after paying...) so I could not be refunded! the guy literally said "it will put me into trouble if I refund you"... I said it's not my problem, since your staff did the mistake you have to repair it. Finally, after trying to make it up by offering 2 cocktails, which I refused, I had to insist a lot and then he gave me a present which was valuable and sufficient to repair their mistake. But no apologies from them, of course..
I came here to relax, not to get in trouble because the staff (which was angry because of my claim) did their job wrong... I will not come back, and I am not sure this place is a good one anymore..
EDIT following the response of the proprietary ; your reply makes non-sense since she never received and paid the bill, because I did get the bill, and I paid for it personally (not my mother). and as per stated, I noticed only after checking and paying that there was a mistake.
again, we have booked for 20:45, and as per stated in the receipt from which you took a picture (and did a negative remark saying I wasn't there by 20:45), we got the table ONLY at 21:25. What's the point of booking if yourself are not on time? anyways, yes, we decided to ignore that, because we are elegant. But that's one more mistake (from an allegedly elegant and luxious restaurant for which we paid the pricing) among many others.
your services were not worth our second visit, but yes for the first visit which was very elegant and pleasant. That is why, we left with smile, instead of making up more noises. I think my review is still positive overall, and you deserve this one.
and, after having to embarrass myself to come back to your place to ask you why you never gave us 20% discount and being unable to refund a customer, the VERY least thing you could do was to offer me a good wine bottle. (which is worth triple its price in a restaurant anyways...) when I left, I heard you guys were mocking at me with your mates. So, do not take me for what I am not, because you are the one who had to give me a 32% discount (according to the wine price) instead of 20% because of...
Read moreUPDATE: Today on 18th July 2024 restaurant responded here to my review in Google with a completely false argument. They said they had given me a 20% discount as a compensation which they really did not. (I can show you the receipt.) On booking this restaurant through The Fork website we had 20% discount prior to booking already so it was not something the restaurant itself gave us (after this horrible bad quality meat experience) but it was The Fork so it had nothing to do with the restaurant itself that they would have been compensating the bad experience to us. So now after all this bad experience we really trying to forget, restaurant still think they can come to here to tell some lies about the compensation which they refuse to give.
Also you can really tell when the meat is actually very bad quality and this was the case in this restaurant. Even sauces what so ever wouldn't have make a difference really if a meat is so bad quality.
Orginal review: What a disappointment! The wine which they recommended was good and the starters were excellent, but the main course was a total letdown, especially at the price of 35€ per portion! We’ve never had to leave food uneaten before, but this time, we had no choice. It was BBQ night, and their regular menu wasn’t available. They recommended the beef with the chef’s side dish. It was a medium-roasted beef, but it was so dry that none of the four adults could finish their meal. There was no sauce to salvage the poor-quality meat, and the chef’s side dish was just potatoes, which was really disappointing. You would think the chef’s imagination could conjure up something more suitable for dry meat than just dry potatoes, but that wasn’t the case. The service was pleasant, but only thing they come up was offered more meat. Obviously we had to decline since the quality of the meat was subpar. We thought they might compensate us for the disappointment (they said they would), but they did not. We spent 400€, mostly on quality wine, and we would have liked to stay longer for more drinks and dessert, but the main course fiasco was too much to overlook, and we completely lost trust in the chef. As Finns, we dislike complaining and have seen many restaurants, but this was unacceptable. We cannot recommend this restaurant. It’s a nice place for a drink with a view, but I would honestly advise against eating here. Avoid it if you don’t want the driest meat...
Read moreWe wanted to enjoy a special dinner our last night in the area, and so we chose Vesuvio for our meal. A nice outdoor deck and patio area lets you enjoy the Italian outdoors.
Service struggled throughout the night. From not being greeted at the door, to having a multitude of people serve us without actually having a server, it seemed like service was chaotic and haphazard.
For instance, while water was served quickly, nobody came to take our drink order for over 10 minutes. Just sitting there. Waiting.
Finally when our drink and meal order was supposedly taken by the single man in charge (who appeared to take every table's order -- strange), we settled in for the long wait.
After other diners had COME AND GONE, the same man who took our order came to our table to apologize profusely for having failed to put our order in. I mean, c'mon. If you're going to insist being the one and only person in the restaurant who can take orders, you should be competent enough to actually make sure the order gets to the kitchen. It's going on over an hour now, and we've only gotten one small basket of bread.
After 90 minutes from when we were first seated, our food finally comes out. It's good, but it's nothing to write home about. It was the highlight of a long, drawn-out meal. As dusk turned to the night sky, the restaurant's unfortunate high-intensity flood lights came on in the outdoor dining area. Whoa. Talk about ambience killer. Suddenly you feel like you're eating in a prison yard.
The final insult to the meal's evening was the bill. Not only did they fail to bring it out when asked (another 10 minute needless wait), they didn't take off or comp a single item after their mistake. I shouldn't need to ask -- you should just offer something up to fix your mistake. It was truly astonishing how the same guy who ignored us, took our order, then "forgot" to put the order in, also presents us with a full-price check.
Paid and got out of there. Would not recommend and definitely would not return. Service throughout the night was chaotic, with the front-of-house staff often confused, having loud conversations/arguments with one another in the middle of the dining area, and trouble getting refills for anything. Just a really poor way to spend our last night in Naples....
