Google tells me that I'm in the top 10% of pizza reviewers. While I'm not sure how they calculate that, I can assure you that we know and love pizza deeply. If I had one day left to live, my final meal would undoubtedly be pizza. So, when I say that Pizzeria Fortuna serves AMAZING pizza, I mean it is out of this world.
Although we didn't stay in Naples, we took a train from Rome to Naples and then a private transfer to the Amalfi Coast. After getting off the train in Naples, we needed a quick lunch, and Pizzeria Fortuna’s good reviews caught our eye. Many reviews mentioned fried pizza, and though I didn't know what to expect, I was eager to try it. OH MY GOODNESS… the fried pizza was incredible. The dough was crisp on the outside but light and fluffy on the inside, and the filling of sauce and cheese was savory deliciousness. Trust me, the fried pizza may not look as beautiful as other pizzas, but it is absolutely the bomb!
We also tried a margherita pizza, and the flavors were stunning. Our driver later explained that the tomatoes used in Naples are special due to the soil around Mt. Vesuvius, which produces magical tomatoes that make magical pizza.
Thank you, Pizzeria Fortuna, for an...
Read moreSo here’s the thing: when you’re in Naples, you expect every pizza to change your life. You’re in the homeland. The sacred ground of dough and sauce. Unfortunately, Pizzeria Fortuna missed that memo.
Let’s start with the pizza. It was… fine. Not terrible, but definitely forgettable. In a city where even the airport pizza slaps, this one just didn’t deliver. Bland crust, meh toppings, and sauce that tasted like it gave up halfway through.
But wait—it gets better.
The owner tried to pull the classic “creative pricing” move. Handed us a total that didn’t match anything on the menu, hoping we wouldn’t notice (spoiler: we did). After we pointed it out, he magically corrected it, but you could tell this wasn’t his first rodeo. Kinda left a bad taste in our mouths—and it wasn’t just the pizza.
Final verdict: Decent pizza, shady vibes. You’re better off walking five minutes in...
Read moreTHIS IS A GREAT CHOICE! This was the best pizza I had in Naples! Everywhere else (even the oldest one) didn't even compare to this one. Most places it was burnt and really didn't have much taste in the sauce. We had the margherita dop pizza. I am not a big pizza fan but if I could eat this one back home it would be a regular choice in my eating out rotation. I usually don't take the time to write a review but this place was worth taking the time. I was surprised at the location and originally only chose it because it was close to the train station when we arrived and were hungry. We chose it based on the reviews and were so happy we did. There is a small fee to sit and eat but the prices are very low so it wasn't huge issue for us. Even the drink prices were reasonable. I am going to try and stop in one more time...
