Pizzeria Da Attilio is situated on the vibrant market street Pignasecca. Here you can experience the mixture of typical family restaurant turned into a popular destination yet guarding the Neapolitan tradition and cozy atmosphere of a small pizzeria with a lot of history. All those amazing pizzas are prepared personally by Attilio Bachetti who is working restlessly right next to the oven. The pizzas are rich in flavour with crispy edges, thin yet fluffy dough and marvellously rich in flavours ingredients. We have been told that all ingredients come from local farms and the amazing sweetness and deliciousness they have are a direct consequence of the volcanic deposits bursting with elements such as potassium and magnesium making the soil around Napoli extremely fertile. Make sure you go a bit before the standard lunch and dinner hours as usually the pizzeria is quite busy. They enrol you on a waiting list and accommodate you right away, once a table is free. The hostess, the waitresses and waiters are extremely polite and super efficient and not in a single moment you feel rushed in any way. While at Pizzeria Da Attilio, take some time to admire the wonderful taste of the pizzas, but also the atmosphere of the place with all its photographs on the walls and the small talks of the Italians around you.

The best pizza we had in Naples and one of the best I have ever eaten in my life! At the entrance to the shop, below the smiling pictures of a child cooking pizza, was the master piziallo himself. His expert hand massaging the pizzas into a shape, expertly loading them up with ingredients before they were cooked in a wood fired oven. You could feel the love he has for pizzas radiating into the food and throughout the restaurant. The star pizza with ricotta crust was like getting hugged from the inside. A pizza for the pizza lover. If you aren't a pizza officionado, your visit here will turn you into one. The mistake we made was coming here for our first pizza in Naples because afterwards very single pizza we ate paled in comparison. The tomato sauce was stunning the dough delicious and the cook perfect. We came early so there was no queue and we're quickly surrounded by mainly local Italian customers. The service was fast, friendly and efficiently professional. They spoke good English and a little french and we're very friendly to the little one. If there was one pizza place to visit in Naples. This is it.

This is one of those Michelin Star Restaurants that is a neighborhood joint who mastered their food art with authenticity, love, generations of local knowledge, and amazing ingredients. They are *so good* at what they do. Experience: When I got there at 9:30pm on a Friday, they were slammed; there was a long wait to be seated (totally worth it if you wanna sit tho). The hostess wasn’t able to help me with my to-go order, but one of the chefs cooking pizza very kindly asked what I needed. I told him ‘one pizza to go, whatever is your favorite’. It was maybe a 10-20 minutes wait from there. I was in and out in under 30 mins, paid €12, and had one of the world’s best pizzas under my arm. The food: Incredible. Amazing. Life changing. Pizza of my dreams. The dough was fluffy, every other one of the diamond shapes on the edges was filled with a pocket of creamy ricotta. The cheese was so delicious and sweet; it perfectly contrasted the salty crust. The sauce was a very simple red tomato purée. The sausage on top was delightful. This seriously was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Enjoy!

Da Attilio is a genius. From the moment we walked through the door, the unmistakable scent of flavour was all around us. 83 years in the making, the restaurant had a timeless, yet classy feel. From the stone baked oven which greeted us in the entrance way, the countless awards and accolades adorning the walls, to the decorative doodled napkins, sketched by happy diners and framed like the works of art they are; Da Attilio's tells the authentic tale of the best pizzeria in the world. For three nights we travelled the length of Napoli to dine at Da Attilio, and for three nights we were subject to the master artisan's expertise. The finest ingredients, the most marvelous flavour combinations, and the ingenuity of the chef combine to create a gastronomic experience like no other. Da Attilio's fiery passion burns hotter than the flames of his oven. If you want authenticity, dine at Da Attilio's. If you want to feed your soul, dine at Da Attilio's. If you want the greatest pizza in the world, dine at Da Attilio's.

This place was phenomenal. Though there was a wait of about 30 minutes, it was well worth it. When you walk in, you are gretted by one of the better atmospheres we've had on our trip, the people making the pizza in the front of the shop and the brick oven also front and center. The walls were decorated with little drawings too, some on napkins some more professionally done, but all with interesting pictures to feast one's eyes upon. The pizza, like it seems most Nepolese pizza, was the type you eat with fork, a very chewey and thin end of the slice with it getting enough form to hold about halfway up. The Nepolitina (marinara) was fantastic, and was decidedly the best pizza I've had since going vegan, perhaps the best of my life, so good that I ended up getting two. Come here, enjoy this place, and have a wonderful culinary introduction to Naples, you won't regret it.

The Pizzeria is almost identical to others in the historic center, with yellow painted walls and a retro atmosphere. Even though I arrived near closing time, 22:30 to be precise, there was still a line of people waiting to be seated. After around 20 minutes I sat and ordered the Carnevale, a star shaped pizza (an Attilio signature) covered by fior di latte and sausage, and the crust filled with fresh ricotta cheese. Contrary to Sorbillo’s, the dough seemed just as thick in the center as on the edges. To my surprise, and despite my previous pizza and pastries of that day, it went down just as easily, confirming that a true Neapolitan pizza is not only good tasting but easily digestible (É buona ma anche molto digeribile – the highest compliment an Italian will give to a pizza).
