Valenti — Restaurant in Naples

I pinned this place to try out their ice cream and to see how it differs from the Roman Gelato. There was a family of 4 in front of me and they payed with credit card, they were Italians. When it was my turn I took out my card and was ready to pay and the manager told me I could only pay with cash. As i didn't have any on me I openly stated that I can only pay with card and the previous people payed with no problem. I am editing this review as I think people need to be aware of what is happening around Naples, not just what happened here. The credit card reader was working just fine but certain shops pretend and say that it’s not working so they can charge without paying tax. It’s a well known trick around Naples but apparently not many tourists know this.

After I stated that I have no way paying other than by card the manager started cutting me off waving his hand for me to shut up. He started making a fuss about the credit card reader and started being more disrespectful and aggressive towards me. He was very rude and at that moment I didn’t understand where all this aggression was coming from.

As there was no way of conjuring 3 eur from my side I stood there waiting for the problem to be solved. Magically the manager got “a signal” and the pay went through. Somehow that wasn’t enough and I didn’t get a receipt. The manager clearly furious by now started waving his hand to come with him. I was shocked what was happening with all of the chaos he was making. He showed me to follow him and we went to their sister store where meat cuts are sold on the opposite side of the street. By this time my ice cream has melted and I had enough of his bs. He talked something to a worker there and then the worker pressured me to pay again in that store because the previous transaction didn’t went through. I told them that I don’t want to do that and was at my wits end and would call for the police. We stood there and the manager went away and after 5min came back and told me in perfect English that the transaction went through. After I was leaving he spit behind me. This was the most abusive experience in my life and the worst treatment I ever got anywhere. This man doesn’t deserve to run a business if he treats other people like he treated me. Not to mention writing a reply in Italian insulting me that I should learn my own language?! We have google translate you...

I really can’t understand why this place has this good review. I was there because of the reviews and my experience was awful…the worse in all my stay in Italy (20 days traveling through a few cities). First of all, the service. We had a really bad attendance which me and my family was completely disrespected, the attendant was stressed and couldn’t manage a situation with lots of people and treated us as garbage. Continuing the review, the ice creams. Not a big deal at all. They are not bad, but nothing good also. I would say it is ok…doesn't worth the price and even less considering their horrible service. The ice cream has no tasty. You can find much better experiences and very good ice creams in any other ice cream shop. I don’t recommend...
