Caffè Della Piazzetta — Restaurant in Padua

Is this what xenophobia feels like? We were waiting to order a drink for at least 30 minutes, made eye contact with both waiters several times and kept getting ignored. We finally left when another couple that had just arrived got their order taken within minutes of sitting down. This was definitely not an accident or misunderstanding but purposeful denial of service. I have never experienced anything like this and would definitely not recommend.

Edit: My name is Leroy O'Brien. What are you gonna do with that? I'm not complaining about a long wait here but about being ignored. I have waited longer on busy days and left good reviews. The table we sat on was cleared and clean. No misunderstanding there.

I'm not going to humiliate myself and go inside to beg for service after sitting outside, looking your employees in the eyes and raising my hand to show that I'm ready to order. Multiple times. If your waiters can't interpret that, they are either grossly incompetent or ignoring me on purpose. Since they seemed competent enough with other guests, I have to assume that they either didn't like my face or had a problem with my nationality or that of my wife. While I was trying to pay, the old sir and the old lady (from the staff) treated me and my friends really bad! They both shouted at us because of the social distance which themselves or other italian clients were not even respectful of at the moment because of the crowd. Even though we are fully vaccinated and has a green pass and we were trying to do our best just like the rest of the crowd! But they treated us quite bad just because we are foreigner students! They discriminated us and said really racist things. Guys (especially if you are foreigners) don't go there ever, because there are lot of discrimination and disrispect going on there. If you are not Italian, please keep in mind the kitchen closes after lunch and they only serve drinks. We got there at 15:00 and there was no food being served anymore. The coffee was very good, the service friendly, it is located in a beautiful small square.

The only strange thing is that when you are in the toilet, you can see a camera placed outside but there is glass so it really feels uncomfortable. I am sure the camera is looking towards the restaurant’s entrance and not inside the toilet, but they...
