Amazing location on the Palermo pier - especially when the weather is nice. Beware, this location also means that the restaurant is virtually perpetually busy. We didn’t have a booking but we were given a table quite quickly which was very lucky (we were a party of 2 and generally speaking smaller groups will likely be easier to accommodate with no booking). The waiter also came to take our order fairly promptly. And then the waiting began. Food eventually arrived after over and hour. As I mentioned, the place was incredibly busy - it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon - and the staff were running around, trying to be as efficient as possible. I’ve read some other reviews where people have complained about having to wait too long for their food. I appreciate that rush hour would always be difficult but if it’s a recurring problem, perhaps some actions could be taken by management to fix that. Food was alright and the service was friendly, but the main problem really is the waiting times. The restaurant is also fairly pricey. For a two course meal with a glass of wine, you’ll probably be looking at €50+ per person, but I guess the location is a...
Read moreHorrible restaurant. A nice location by the harbor, with classy feel but filled with mostly rude staff and lousy food.
Was turned away as there was a wedding event, said it was fully booked. Tried with another staff and she gave us a table.
No english menu, waiter doesn't bother to help with ordering. Placed our order and was ridiculed and corrected on our pronounciation.
Only the waiter who served the food was nice to ask if we wanted our food to be separated. Food wise, the tagliatelle scampi with vegetables was not tasty at all. This was the first bad pasta i had during this whole sicily trip. Bad and expensive as opposed to their tagline of "deep and cheap". Didn't even understand why it's there.
And all these while we were served by 5 different staff. Called for bill, given the same wrong receipt twice. Once i stood up from my seat, my chair was taken away by another staff to be given to another table.
Very bad experience. Wasn't surprised about their rating at all. Blamed ourselves for not searching for their review before being attracted by their nice...
Read moreWe visited Ristorante A'Cala for a light lunch, drawn by its picturesque location overlooking La Cala harbor in Palermo. The setting is undeniably charming, with a cozy atmosphere and scenic views.
However, our experience was disappointing. Despite arriving around 12:30 PM, we were informed that the kitchen was not yet open, which was unexpected for lunchtime. The service was notably slow, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. While there appeared to be ample staff, attention to guests was lacking.
Additionally, the prices seemed high relative to the quality offered. The restrooms were unclean and poorly maintained, detracting from the overall experience. The only redeeming qualities were the pleasant harbor view and the inviting ambiance. Regrettably, the service and facilities did not meet...
