Absolutely Horrendous - Avoid at all Costs!
Ciurma at the Marina Yachting Club in Palermo is, without a doubt, one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever had the misfortune of visiting. The staff were shockingly rude from the moment I walked in, and they didn’t even make the slightest effort to speak English. If you don’t speak Italian, don’t even bother coming here – you’ll be treated like an inconvenience rather than a customer.
As for the food, it was an absolute nightmare. I ordered a poke bowl, and instead of the sushi rice that any decent place would serve, they gave me basmati rice – a total insult to the dish. Honestly, it was the worst poke bowl I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve had some bad ones before. But Ciurma takes the cake. Thinking it couldn’t possibly get worse, I tried their sushi. It looked way, way better than it tastes. Big mistake. The sushi was a disgrace – the rice was all wrong, the toppings were tasteless, and the overall quality was a joke for the price they’re charging.
And from thinking it wouldn’t get worse, this was the only Italian restaurant that provided the bread after the first course had arrived. Without creating an issue, I asked for some balsamic vinegar and olive oil to enjoy my bread with. However, instead of giving it to me in a glass bottle that any decent restaurant would serve it in. This five star restaurant gave it to me in sachets. You can refer to the picture below.
This place doesn’t deserve a cent of your money. If you primarily speak English or just enjoy decent food, stay far, far away from this restaurant. It’s a complete rip-off and an embarrassment to Palermo’s dining scene. I deeply regret wasting my time and money here.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place...

We waited far too long before we were able to order our food as there was an extended “team meeting” going on at peak dinner time (5-6pm) and we kept being waved away to wait for them to finish. We ordered large bottles of water twice which were never brought out to us. Our food arrived fairly quickly, but some of our dishes were underwhelming. The sea urchin pasta was far too salty and the swordfish pasta was crucially lacking swordfish.
At the end of our meal, the waitress convinced us to buy limoncello/orange/pistachio shots for €3 per shot. We accepted. 20 minutes passed by and we had not received the drinks. When we prompted them, they finally arrived, filling 1/4 of a paper shot cup. We complained that these were not full shots and they said nothing. With no communication, we were left sat wondering what they were doing with our complaint. Another 5 minutes later, they brought out a new shot although we no longer had an appetite for them.
2 members of my party went to pay the bill, just to discover that they had charged us for 2 bottles of water (which we never received) as well as 2 coffees which were never ordered. Reluctantly, we paid as the restaurant manager tried to small talk us. All the while, the remaining 2 members of our party were subjected to a slimy and shallow sexual comment - “you are delicious” before being asked to leave our table.
We couldn’t help but feel as though we weren’t respected as we are a group of 4 young girls.
Don’t waste your time. You are simply paying for the location and their more than disappointing food and service even out...
Read moreHorribly disorganized, messing up table placements (when entering the queue we specified we were having dinner, and in 20min when we got to our turn it turned out they seated us at a tiny table only suited for drinks, not for 6 people having dinner), having us wait for about 10 minutes after seating just to get the menus.
Brought wrong orders (stealthily replacing the kids menu with the regular) so they can charge more (our friend pointed out the meal on the menu, so no verbal confusion), when ordering burgers they asked what do we want with them (implying they come with a side, instead of asking IF we want anything), and then charged us for the side.
I had an octopus burger which was absolutely terrible, the octopus came cold and VERY chewy, like rubber, while the bun was dry and seemed day-old. I come from the coast and have had octopus many times and I know some chewiness is to be expected, however this was unacceptable. The meals arrived cold, additional charges on the menu for the orders they messed up etc.
The ambience is okay, nothing special, prices aren't the worst, but definitely not on the cheaper side (expected of a port restaurant), which makes the mess-ups extra infuriating. All in all, terribly unprofessional, and I would...
