By far the most pleasant and interesting cafe I've spend time in in Sicily. Food is authentic; so is the owner family,. Kind even after years of local workmen, the pensioned philosophers who occupy tables at each end never buy anything, but nevertheless have their function. Then there are tourists, like me, with splutterings of the language and keen to 'fit in" and be part of the charmed scene, even if just for a while. Then, without cue, the Church bells peal a sonorous tune at Angelus time. I recorded it on my phone, with the chatter and accelerating and often belching engines hurriedly passing.

I order something that looked like a roast beef sandwich. I was sure it was not but Google translate couldn't tell me what it was. I went with it and had the version with cheese. I loved it. It was a bit like roast beef with some crunchy cartilage type bits. I found out later it was spleen. No regrets. Best €2.50 sandwich ever, hands down. There was a line that they tried to control with a ticket system, but that could be improved a bit. Around 25 orders took more or less 35 minutes to complete. Their selection is fine, a couple types of arancines (unfortunately they were out of pistachio), different sandwiches and some other dishes.
