One of the most memorable places I've eaten at by far. Me and my group came to place after a whole day of sightseeing and traveling, and wow, this place really wrapped up the day with a nice little bow on top. Let's talk about the environment first: maximalism at its finest. Music blasting out from the kitchen tucked into the back of the building, pots hung up on the ceiling, flimsy plastic chairs outside with a booth, etc etc- all tucked into this corner by a fairly empty and dark street. Cool! Now the guy itself? A one man band, chef and service man- super nice too. I really liked him. Now the food (the most important part), took a while to get out to us, and man, we were given a lot, the dishes themselves were pretty decently sized, but we were given a pile of rice, carrots, and raisins with each of our dishes. We thought we wouldn't be able to finish it, but we did-! And it was amazing. Loved the food. Totally recommend visiting if you're in Palermo...
Read moreLoved this place! Delicious food, kind waiter/owner, and the menu has meat and vegetarian versions of most dishes.
I came twice. The first day I ordered the Ashak (vegetarian steamed dumplings) and the cookies. The dumplings were SO good especially with the yogurt sauce on top. I might come back tomorrow to get them again. I tried to order the baklava but I think they were out, so I got these cookies instead (not sure the name), but I loved the taste of them.
The second day I ordered the vegetarian Dolma and the vegetarian Korma Sabzi. The dolma were so fresh and tasty, and thicker than dolma I've had before. The Korma Sabzi was a delicious spinach and chickpea stew, and came with seasoned rice.
If you enjoy middle eastern food, definitely come try this place. It has dishes I've never heard of before and everything was great. Also the location is perfect, it's just outside the market so it has a more...
Read moreFavourite restaurant in the Mercato Ballaró district. Very good food, freshly cooked every day. Shapoor also knows and uses spices. A bowl of jalapenos is served with every dish on request. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. A very individual little restaurant, with lots of plants and utensils reminiscent of Afghanistan. There are plenty of seats outside so that you can watch the hustle and bustle of the market without being in the middle of it. Inside, the furniture is very simple and improvised. Many locals are regulars here, including artists and musicians. For people who like it authentic. For uncomplicated people. For people who love cats, because they are also part of the neighbourhood - and always drop by. A place of warmth and simple, yet great...
