Taverna Conti — Restaurant in Palermo

What a terrific experience we had at Taverna Conti, in Palermo's Ballaró market! If you want to enjoy honest, perfectly-prepared Sicilian dishes served by warm, friendly people in a wonderfully raucous outdoor café environment, look no further. My husband loved the grilled octopus with potatoes so much, we returned a second time (and will be going back a third time before we return to the US). On our first visit, I enjoyed arancini di forgmaggio--a typical dish of a crispy rice ball filled with cheese--and on my second, I had a beautiful dish of ricotta-filled ravioli with sage butter (I think I'll be ordering that again and again, though my husband's pasta alle vongole--white clam sauce and fresh herbs--looked incredible, too, and he didn't share!). The staff will welcome you as though you were family coming over for a big outdoor cookout. Inside, you can see the huge pots of pasta being made fresh, to order.
