Stay AWAY. Our hotel set up this reservation for us. We walked up and told them we had a reservation at 7pm the guy immediately said NO! I said, oh, our hotel called (gave them the name of the hotel and woman who booked it) he said NO! Then another guy came over and I explained that our hotel booked our reservation for us at 7, he also said no and told us to leave (at this point people we walking in behind us with no reservations). Finally the owner (or what we thought was the owner) came over and again we explained that our hotel made the reservation and he confirmed and seated us promptly. Once we sat down the guy that said no and told us to leave was our server (uncomfortable much) anyway, we ordered (two starters, two mains, a side, and drinks). As we waited (30 mins), we were served our drinks and everyone around us (that was seated after) was receiving bread, drinks, and first courses. We had nothing... like they were actively ignoring us. We didn't say anything we figured it could be the slow Italian way- which we love, finally about 45 mins in EVERYTHING comes- except for my pasta... we figured it was coming. My guest finished her dinner and my main still hadn't come... we sat for another 20 mins and finally said something - at that point they acted like it was coming but wanted me to remind them what I had order. I politely asked for the check and they argued and said it's coming what did you order. I told them if they could remember what I ordered- especially if it was "coming" I was leaving. I paid the bill (which they add 10 more dollars to the total when I saw my Amex charge - which I will take up with Amex) and left. The point is- I can deal with service thy is slow but not service that ignores, is rude, and argues. Just a heads up. Food was actually okay-ish but a bit of a...
Read moreWe read the reviews so we thought it was a good place to eat. Terrible mistake!!! Not only that it is the most expensive restaurant it is a tourist trap! We ordered glasses of wine for 8 € each and got less than 1/4 of a glass. The starters were really good - the artichoke was really good and the fried mozzarella was a big and yummy dish. But then - my friend asked to cancel the main course because she was full. The waiter went to the kitchen and came back saying that it was in the making... That was weird - because all the dishes are fresh and Italian restaurants don't start the next dish until you finish the first one. Two minutes later - we were still eating (!!!) the first dishes!!! They shoved the next dishes to us with 3 waiters resetting the table wile we had a fork in our mouths!!! That was so unpleasant!! Then we tried to eat the next dishes - My friend's calamari was like rubber 🤢 And my pasta was uncooked! 🤬 And the sauce felt like the cook just spilled cream on the pasta without cooking it. 🤢 I sent my dish back and did not want anything else. Then the check came - and the pasta was on it! I had to argue with 3 waiters and the owner and to raise my voice so that he would take the pasta off the...
Read moreDelightful restaurant on one of the main streets of Palermo. We turned up after 11pm, and still managed to be seated for dinner. I ordered the pasta with mussels, my mother ordered the pasta alla Norma - both delicious! Also, very generous with the mussels which is rare. The mixed bruschetta selection (caponata, tomatoes, ricotta with anchovies) is HIGHLY recommended also. Sitting in the restaurant at night has a lovely vibe - great music selection, surrounded by culture, and the perfect place to people watch! We ended up chatting with the three lovely owners - we told them how it was our last day and we still hadn’t found anywhere to try the famous Sicilian Red Prawns - they offered to source them for us the following day for lunch. We returned the next day, and as promised the prawns were stocked for us! Very happy we could try them on our last day. Wonderful customer service across the board, with truly delightful food and surroundings - this Osteria should be on your Palermo...
