We booked La Filoma on our way back from our vacations on an over-night stop in Parma, and boy was that a good decision. The Filoma is a restaurant in the heart of Parma, pedestrian zone, in the ancient town. We were welcomed by a very friendly host, who let us chose were to sit. We picked a small room with a few tables and throughout the night, we stayed the only ones in this room (there are various rooms). The menu is smallish, but has a vide variety of dishes, heavy on meat. They had no problems creating two simpler dishes for our kids (pasta and gnocchi ragu) and we started with one of the best truffle risottos we ever ate, followed by a wonderful tagliata. They recommended a lovely Amarone to the food. The meal ended with wonderful deserts and a really good grappa. The host was super friendly, provided more information about the dishes and beverages, and we left super happy. The dinner involved two starters, four mains, several beverages, a bottle of wine (60€) plus four deserts and grappa and was around 200€. Don't miss this place if you have the joy to...
Read moreLa Filoma is an elegant restaurant in the center of Parma, open all day. In addition to the typical Italian decor, you can see paintings in the style of expressive abstraction on the walls. It's a strange combination, but it fits the menu, which includes unconventional variations on local cuisine or things not found in other places and forgotten recipes from the past. Following this lead, I ordered the Antica pasta della Filoma, a filling pasta made from four different flours with a sauce based on cherry tomatoes, almonds and smoked ricotta. Delicious and indeed not to bee found on other menus in Italian restaurant that I know. My companion opted for equally tasty ravioli filled with ricotta and local herbs. I also liked this dish very much. For such a setting and an interesting menu, however, you have to add about 1-2 euros more to your bill in comparison to the standard of similar restaurants in the area. Do not worry - it...
Read moreI will try to summarize the review. In principle I was not happy with the visit, but this place has potential if people understand what they do wrong. I was told since the beginning that the food will take some time to arrive because of the restaurant being full (which it was not), they could not say how much, but we agreed to stay. The order was taken 35 minutes after the arrival, starter arrived 40 minutes late, a minuscule starter. The main dish arrived 35 minutes after, the dish was very small.
Overall, the quality of food is very good. The service and the coordination with the kitchen is probably one of the worst I've ever seen.
Reading other comments here, they also mentioned that service is slow and portions are very small, prices exaggerated. Which I confirm. There is also a couvert of 3$/person.
