My wife took to me La Forchetta to celebrate my birthday tonight as we are staying at the adjoining hotel. We were among the first to arrive at 7:15pm as the restaurant opened. We had a very nice sparkling wine and several tasty appetizers by about 8:30pm. (We assumed a top-notch restaurant was just "leisurely.") We decided to inquire about our next course, as we were growing tired, but we could not garner the attention of our waitress for nearly 30 minutes. As the couple adjacent to our table was served their main course (having arrived around 8:00pm), we began to grow impatient. Shortly thereafter at nearly 9:45pm, our waitress finally approached our table and asked us if we would like coffee or dessert. When I said, we would prefer our main course, she appeared flummoxed and went quickly to the kitchen. I realized they had completely forgotten our entrées. I was incredulous that at a small highly-acclaimed "Michelin star" restaurant, such an oversight could occur. I canceled our entrées and asked for the check. I followed the waitress into the main room of the restaurant to expedite settling the check and finishing our evening. The manager asked if all was OK. I explained that I was disappointed with the service and shocked that they had forgotten to bring our main course, and at this point, we were too tired to wait any longer. She offered ONE complimentary dessert as compensation. I relented, but was really disappointed. The tiramisu was average and we opted to finish it in our hotel room. I suspect the chef and main courses are likely quite good, but sadly, we will not know as the service was severely disappointing and prevented us from experiencing it. As for the manager/owner, I am not sure how her response seemed logical under the circumstances, but...
Read moreNestled in the heart of the city, this great restaurant provided an exquisite dining experience that left us utterly enchanted. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that this place was special. As we entered, we were pleasantly surprised to find a charming terrace at the back, even more adorable and romantic than the front. It instantly set the tone for a magical evening.
Ambiance: The intimate setting was perfect for a romantic dinner, making it an ideal spot for couples seeking a memorable dining experience.
Food: The menu showcased an array of culinary delights, and we opted for the DEGUSTATION OF TYPICALS HAMS to begin our gastronomic journey. The platter was a delightful assortment of flavors, perfectly complementing each other and setting the stage for what was to come.
Next up, we savored the PARMA FRIED PASTA and TORTELLI OF HERB, both dishes beautifully prepared and bursting with authentic Italian flavors. The PUMPKIN TORTELLI was a revelation, the velvety texture of the filling and the lightness of the sauce elevating the dish to a whole new level.
For the main course, we indulged in the BAKED STUFFED VEAL, which was tender, succulent, and filled with a rich medley of flavors. The DUCHESS OF PARMA WITH MARSALA SAUCE was the perfect accompaniment, adding a touch of sweetness to the dish.
Service: The service was impeccable throughout the evening. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the cuisine they served. Our waiter patiently answered all our questions and guided us through the menu, making excellent...
Read moreGot seated on the cozy terrace quite late on a weeknight by a very friendly and attentive waitress, who also made the wonderful suggestion to try a local lambrusco for my meal selections. This lambrusco was NOT the usual sweet junk, but full-bodied and it worked very well with my food. The first dish was fresh green taglione with culatello (superbly executed), which was simply divine. A parmesan-infused cream sauce with the rarest crude ham out there. All from the finest, and probably one of the top three pasta dishes I ever ate (and I made and ate lots of fresh pasta dishes...). The second course were lamb rack chops in parmesan crust with mini Roma tomatoes. Clean, professionally butchered with little fat left, and very tender. Served medium-rare to medium with a small pink center, which is close to perfection in my book, since I like it closer to rare, when lamb is the juiciest and the flaviors the least gamiest. The parm crust (extremely flavorful without talking it over the dish); however, kept the moist and balanced out the refreshing acidity of the tomatoes. During all the time, the wait staff was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. My compliments about the food were taken with honest joy and pride by the wait staff, which speaks for a constructive and collaborative work environment and culture in this restaurant. My espresso was on the house - how much nicer can it get?!! All in all, a...
