Probably one of the most painful reviews I have ever done. For the first time I am reviewing a place not so much for the service, cost, hygiene, etc.In this place I spent my best times there when I had to study for some assignment in high school, the 100 days before the end of the year, the chats, my first year of college. Filter has been the place of so many unforgettable episodes in my life, I have taken a ton of people there, I have recommended it to so many people. My heart is crying as I do this review. I'll cut to the chase. Last Friday I showed up at Filter's waiting for an hour standing for the opening time, 8 o'clock, trying to be the first in line. at the counter there was a guy and a girl who sat me down at 8 o'clock and I got "the usual" pancakes with fruit maple syrup double bacon with medium cappuccino and juice spending 20/22 euros today I showed up again, also I took a person there again today to introduce him to Filter's, taking the same but without the juice and I spent 13 euros. That Friday I paid more I showed up dressed comfortably in sweats because I had a flight and honestly I felt discriminated I hope I didn't pay more for that reason. Unfortunately I thought about it and I thank Valentina who is a nice person for all these years she made herself available and showed she could handle the situation when I trusted her. I do not know if I will return Quality of the...
Read moreI am unsure what the other reviewers are seeing that I am not seeing, but this place is strictly mediocre in every way. The premises are ill-maintained and uncomfortable, the service is very slow (not in rush hour) and the filter coffee is at best ordinary, as is every other menu item I tried.
On top of this, I can see recommendations for laptop work in the reviews and my advice is - do not attempt it unless you are absolutely desperate and have a full battery. It is not possible to do any real work. There are no electical plugs. The place is very full and very noisy even by Italian standards. Finally, the laptop table policy is patently crazy and designed to discourage laptop use - apparently only window tables are allowed. I sat by a window, only to be told this was actually a door. Then I was forced to move from a big table where I was not inconveniencing anyone I shared it with, to a squat plank - very obviously NOT by a window, with a backless childs chair, where I was literally in the lap of someone attempting to have lunch. This is just devoid of all logic.
Look, guys, I get it. Just say you don't allow laptop use. That's fair. Don't make it seem like you do, just to get the students' money, but then shove people like me into a ridiculous corner, clearly unsuited for any sitting. It's just a stupid thing to do for...
Read moreI will not overdrive if I say it was one of the most hipster coffe shops I have been to in Italy, and one of the few speciality coffee shops (Italy is in general pretty much traditional as well in coffee-realted issues). Opposite to what you might think, really good coffee is not that easy to get, and even if you might be luck enough to find decent espresso, milk coffees tend to be prepared quite badly, not to mention speciality coffees which are really hard to find. Staff is friendly, coffees prepared well. 🌈 flag friendly, no issues with visiting with a dog and an 8-year old. Nice croissants, the pistachio one was amazing. Can't comment on the food directly, but from what I saw (and smelled), would say it was promising really well. Very international crowd, mostly students (or...
