Disappointing Experience at Osteria Santi in Pisa

My recent visit to Osteria Santi in Pisa left much to be desired. Upon arriving at the restaurant, my partner and I opted to enjoy some wine on the terrace. However, our experience quickly turned sour due to the rude behavior exhibited by the waiter.

Despite our polite decline of a meal, the waiter became confrontational and raised his voice, insisting that we couldn't simply enjoy drinks without ordering food. This unwelcoming attitude continued as he abruptly removed the cutlery and tablecloth from our table.

Not only was the service disrespectful and hostile, but the lack of information regarding the restaurant's policy on drink-only patrons added to our frustration. We were left feeling unwelcome and disrespected throughout our brief visit.

As a frequent traveler who values hospitality and customer service, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on this disappointing experience. It's unfortunate that such beautiful surroundings in Pisa were marred by such poor service.

I appreciate your prompt response to my review. However, I must clarify that my review is based entirely on my personal experience during my visit to your establishment. I understand that experiences can vary, but I assure you that my account is truthful and accurate.

As evidence of my visit, I do have the receipt of the charge, which corroborates my presence at your restaurant. I did not intend to discredit your establishment, but rather to provide honest feedback based on my encounter with the service provided.

I am disappointed by the treatment I received during my visit, and I hope that you will take my feedback into consideration for future improvements in customer service.

Thank you for your attention to...

The worst food and service. Tasted like it was stale or microwaved food. Fish tasted so stale. Bruschetta was okay. But the gnnoci was bad and tasted and smelt stale and soggy. When I returned it after taking one bite, the waiter said he will not take it back because others liked it!! I explained to him that it was not to my liking and the fish tasted stale and he told me to just keep it. Then ordered something else which was mediocre. When I asked for the bill noticed he still charged for the gnocci with squid which was stale. He told me yes because something was "wrong with my mouth" because others liked it!!! Incredibly rude!!! I really would not have minded paying for it if it was restaurant policy but instead he started to tell the manager that something was wrong with my mouth and told me to leave Italy. Apparently he deals with million customers a day and does not have time for people with bad mouths. The managers seemed nice enough but refused to calm the waiter. Worst experience here and only chose to come here because of someone's recommendation. Turned out another patron at another table experienced something similar that day from the same waiter and nothing was being done to remedy the rude attitude or experience. Most ridiculous and bizzare experience. Save your money and tastebuds and go elsewhere. Place is just not worth your...

The gnocchi are small and fun to eat. The 4 cheese one, they give you a generous amount and it's a nice dish to share.

The calamari is crispy and light. It tastes good and goes well with the lime. Maybe a little more salt or dipping sauce would have been nice.

The wild boar stew doesn't taste gamey at all. The potatoes are crispy and go well with the saucy meat.

We tried the pear cake with hot chocolate for dessert. The chocolate wasn't too sweet and the pear was nice and warm. It tasted good and ended the meal nicely.

The restaurant's decor reminds one of a foyer into a museum. Religious paintings are against the walls and and the ceilings are high and vaulted. Such a place definitely fits its namesake. The food is good and the staff are friendly however they will also let you know quite openly the moment you finish to hurry up since other people are coming through the door waiting for tables. I suppose that is the nature of a restaurant that is relatively cheap in a tourist spot with good food that it will be quite busy. If you're the type to like to chat a bit after a meal and relax, be aware that you might...

100% DELICIOUS, GREAT PRICE/QUALITY RATIO. I happened to be in Pisa with my teenage daughter at New Year's Eve and browsing through restaurant reviews I realized the positive ones are often put up by restaurant owners, so I just decided to choose a place that looked trustworthy. We chanced to pass by and the place was full of locals. The restaurant was packed but there were tables outside under a heated plastic shelter. I had Peposo (traditional local stew made with wine and plenty of black peppercorns), lentils with a bit of olive oil and a glass of wine. All of them were delicious. My daughter had pasta with beef ragout (the local beef is a special breed that goes by the funny name of 'mucco') and fries she loved her food, too. The prices were right for the quality of the food we ate, waiters were curt but efficient, and I could only recommend the place. Also, it's very close to the city centre.
