Il Canguro — Restaurant in Pisa

Overall pretty disappointed with our lunch. We came due to the high reviews and the patio is quite nice and service was friendly and quick so no problems there.

We tried one of the sandwiches and although the ingredients were fresh and individually good the sandwich was so dry since there was no sauce it wasn't that pleasant to eat. Sandwiches always typically come with fries so when the server asked if we wanted fries we said sure. They were actually €4.50 which isn't that big a deal but if you're up charging someone you really should mention that.

The sign out front also said no service fee but in reality there's no service fee for a specific menu but not mentioned on the sign. Pretty much everywhere has a service fee so no big deal they have €2 per person but to put it out saying you don't when you do felt misleading.

The other dish we had was the lasagna which was ok. Really nothing that special and kinda felt like a frozen microwaved one. Not sure how the rating here is so high but I...

We walked a bit away from the attractions ground towards a street that seemed to have restaurants and yeah there were a few of them lined up. We didn't want to walk too far away so we settled to choose amongst them. Il Canguro had a friendly server that told us the specials so we decided to dine with them. We sat outside and it was nice as it was covered and they had blankets. The heater wasn't on but maybe that's bec it's still daytime. We ordered one pasta dish each and both of them were really good and presented well. The servers were nice and we saw that the interiors seemed to look good too. We ordered a seafood dish, and the shrimp weren't cleaned, as they should be for hygiene reasons. We asked for a replacement, and they got mad and asked us to pay for that dish no matter what because they already cooked that dish. The administrator was incredibly rude and said that it was our problem if we didn't want to eat the shrimp like that. The rest of the food was bland and tiny portions for the price. Also, they said "it's your daughter's problem if she doesn't want to eat the shrimp like that" which I believe is a complete lack of respect towards paying customers.
