This was a truly terrible experience. My partner and I were looking for a place for lunch in Pisa when an American couple leaving the restaurant told us how amazing it was. We believed them and went in. The experience started off fine. A nice guy welcomed us and seated us on the terrace, but that's when everything went wrong. A very grumpy woman brought us the menus; her abrupt manner made us feel unwelcome from the start. She brought our wine but forgot the water. When we asked for the water, she aggressively told us, "one moment." To top it off, the restaurant was playing loud Nigerian music, which felt completely out of place for a traditional Italian restaurant. Our starter was a caprese salad that was poorly presented and tasted bad. During this time, the staff was loudly arguing with each other inside the restaurant. For my main course, I ordered the wild boar stew. As I started to eat, I noticed the meat was pink, which I initially thought was due to the rich tomato sauce. However, I soon found completely raw meat inside, a genuinely terrifying discovery that made me worry about my health. I called the waiter to show him the dish, and he apologized and asked if I wanted to wait for another stew. I said no and just asked for the bill. To my shock, they included the wild boar stew on the bill. I had to call him back and explain that the food they served was dangerous and undercooked boar meat can contain parasites. After a heated argument, they finally removed the dish from the bill. This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. My takeaways from this situation are: Always check reviews before you go. Don't just trust a random recommendation, especially from americans. -If something feels wrong from the beginning, it's time to leave this place. Always stand up for your rights...

We visited Trattoria Toscana dal 1976 in Pisa and it turned out to be the worst experience during our stay in Italy. Both special requests and standard orders were mishandled, and the food quality was poor.
🔹 Special Request Failure: We asked four times (host + waiter) for the fried shrimps to be peeled. Everyone confirmed. Yet, the dish came unpeeled. When I asked the waiter to call the host, he ignored me. I had to insist, which led to an unpleasant and unprofessional exchange.
🔹 Dish Not As Described: I ordered grilled mixed seafood (swordfish, squid, shrimp). I specifically asked for swordfish, and the waiter confirmed it. Dish came with salmon instead. No apology, no explanation.
🔹 Poor Communication: The host blamed the kitchen, took no responsibility. The waiter also forgot our side dish (grilled potatoes), which came late after we finished the main course.
🔹 Food Quality = 0/5 • Penne with salmon: Oily, fish ground with bones. • Spaghetti with beef: Cold. • Fried shrimp: OK but only 5 pcs for €20. • Mixed seafood: Burned on the outside, tasteless inside. • Potatoes: Clearly reheated, bad taste.
🔹 Other Notes: Staff pushed everyone to sit outside to make it look busy. Inside was totally empty and not set up. We weren’t even offered a choice.

Not recommended at all. If you must go, order something small first. Don’t risk wasting your time and money...
Read morePopped in a couple of times on a day trip to pisa. First time just for a pit stop and a drink, then returned a little later in the day for a bite to eat before heading to the airport. Not overly happy to serve just drinks without ordering food. I fully understand, as very busy and we were taking up valuable table space. On the second visit we ordered food. The service was a little haphazard, and one dish just didn't arrive. The food wasn't anything to jump up and down about. The lamb chops not great at all. When asked for the bill, it took an age!!! Now,in the morning when the bill finally arrived, from another waiter,it wasn't our bill and 3 x times the cost. We queried it and he said sorry as it wasn't his table. But for the same thing to happen later in the day,I think they have a little scam going on!!! So check...
