A quick stop on our way to the tower. We had aperol spritz and a charcuterie board to share. Both were really lovely and reasonably priced. Charcuterie came with a selection of hams, cheese, bread, pear slices and an apple/pear sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed the cold selection on such a hot day. The dessert wasn’t as enjoyable the tiramisu and pana cotta tasted and looked quite different from what you’d expect. They weren’t horrible but we regretted getting them as they weren’t very nice. Overall the service was fantastic, our waiter was trilingual and made our experience really easy and enjoyable. The only downside I would say is it’s very small and you’re sitting super close to everyone else, which I understand can’t be helped as it’s a small restaurant. This also meant we had to sit through a big group next to us unapologetically blowing cigarette smoke and vape smoke at us for a good hour. Would definitely come back for...
Read moreAfter climbing the tower of Pisa, my boyfriend and I decided to head into Pisa to find lunch (away from the tourist traps close to the tower.) We wanted something more authentic, I had found a restaurant on Pinterest that had great reviews, and only an 8 minute walk from the tower. Unfortunately that particular restaurant was closed, maybe because it was Saturday. But Pizzeria L’Arancio was just around the corner and we could see the tables and umbrellas from the restaurant. We were kindly greeted and seated. We picked two pizzas from the menu, and the waitress happily gave us a wine recommendation each (as well as a gelato recommendation as we left.) pizza was great and so was the wine. Definitely worth the walk from the tower. It also gave us a chance to see part of Pisa we wouldn’t have seen between the train station and tower, definitely go...
Read moreHidden in an alley way approximately 15 mins walk from the leaning tower you stumble upon Pizzeria L'Arancio. The location is very cute and charming with an extremely clean bathroom. Upon looking at the Yelp and Google Reviews I was expecting a solid pizza. I ordered the one with Egg on top and a Margarita Pizza. The dough was very well flavored but very hard. The pizza doesn't come cut which could be a regional thing. However cutting it was very difficult. The Margarita which is a very basic pizza had almost NO cheese. For such a basic pizza you would think cheese for €8.50 would be included. I don't understand why this place has such high reviews I was extremely...
