We were simply not impressed and, frankly, disappointed in our lunch here. We were in Pisa for a few hours during our trip from Venice to the Cinque Terre. This restaurant was on our shortlist due to a recommendation in the Rick Steves guidebook. The thing I have learned since - and wished I had know that day! - was not to trust Rick Steves's food recommendations! My wife's ravioli was undercooked. My pasta was fine but bland and unremarkable compared to the many excellent meals I had during my Italian vacation. On top of the poor food quality, we were accosted by a street performer/mime who came into the restaurant and stood at our table silently begging for money. She did not take no for an answer and the restaurant staff did nothing. I eventually gave her a Euro just to get her to leave us alone. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant. I can't offer an alternative since we only had the one meal while in Pisa, but given the ease of finding a good meal everywhere we went in Italy, I cannot imagine it would be difficult to do better.

We ended up here completely by accident and it was probably the best meal of our time in Italy. We were cautious at first, but the staff was very friendly and happily accommodated our pickiest eaters with two butter pastas and one pasta with tomato sauce. The tomato sauce was quite a hit as well. The real star was the cheese plate special that had 4 cheeses paired with a jam/chutney/honey. There was truffle cheese with honey (my favorite) along with a pistachio cheese with pistachio mix, wine aged cheese with wine reduction sauce, and another cheese with an orange compote of sorts. The “adult” pastas were also quite good and really made for an excellent lunch. Thanks again for a great meal, and don’t be afraid to try this spot for a great lunch after a trip to the tower.

Absolutely one of the best meals I've had in Europe. Vineria di Piazza is a hidden gem with some of the most delicious pasta, steak, and appetizers in Italy. Everything was incredibly well made, and we were very impressed with the Angus steak with artichokes, which was so flavorful and juicy. And the price is unbeatable. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner during your trip to the tower of Pisa! Also, contrary to previous reviews, the staff is not xenophobic. Our waiter was very friendly and patiently explained their seasonal menu to us, which was all in Italian.

I want to start by saying the food was very good, I recommend it. The service though, not good at all. No time management, no real internal communication between the employees. We asked for a table, they prepared it but forgot to advise us it was ready. So we waited 15 minutes outside for no reason after we realized they forgot telling us about the table. For the starter we waited 30 minutes. One shared starter. For the main course we waited 30 more minutes after we finished the starter plates. The real problem is that the 5 main courses (we were 5 persons) arrived in 3 different rounds / timing. Not nice to wait while others are already eating. We also asked for the grated Parmigiano (for pasta) 3 times. Usually they bring it with the plates. 2 of 5 plates were not hot, kinda cold. When at the end we paid we explained the situation and that we were happy for the food but disappointed for the service management. While we were talking with the staff a very rude Italian customer interrupted us all by saying we were just annoying and asked us to leave the restaurant soon. Maybe another alpha male with a hero/ego complex to fix. I think a restaurant should know before working the capacity of tables and people they can serve and manage in order to make the customers feel good. The employees were very nice people, just disorganised?? Anyway you can eat...

Very cute looking restaurant, food from 10 to 20 euros. Portions small and not very tasty, poor presentation and service. I ordered two pasta dishes, one of them was lasagna, there was no meat just pasta and the other dish (can’t remen the name) was basically loads of pasta 5 cherry tomatoes cut in half with a fish sauce powder. I was recommended by w waither to take a plate of specialty (bread and olive oil) waste of money 5 half slices of bread cost 3€. I was waiting 20 minutes for the bill and after that another 20 minutes because waiter didn’t tell me that I am supposed to pay inside. I was standing and waiting and no one gave me any attention. I think that quality of the food wasn’t worth my money and my waiting at the end made me totally me. I didn’t hear any apologies. I don’t recommend, I wouldn’t go...
