San Domenico Italian Bistrot — Restaurant in Pisa

We had a dinner for two in the outside area. The atmosphere was perfect with italian chatter and small conversations with the waitress.

The waitress had service mastered to perfection. She noticed when I lost a fork, and came to replace it with a new one. She let us share courses, and when possible made the chef split them on two plates. Else we always got to spoons/forks. She also let us order startes later in the evening, as we wanted to taste more of the menu.

We had tagliatelle with truffles, the raviolo, the octopus and the pecorino pie. All made with simple ingredients, but well balanced. However, the pecorino pie missed a crispy element, but else we enjoyed all the dishes.

For dessert we had the catalan pie, which was prepared to perfection: fluffy, fresh and perfect sweetness. We ended up right above 100 EUR for 4 dishes, 1 desert, wine, water and coffee. Would recommend if you look for a place with several seafood dishes on the menu.

The wine list is not to heavily priced, as the 25 EUR wine costs 15 EUR in store. That is good...

The waitress were nice and friendly. That's why I give them three stars instead of two! The starter ( mix of salumi and cheese) was ok. However, the slices are usually cut thinner in other Italian restaurants that I've been to. The main course, tagliata and cod fish was not good! The steak was perfect medium however it was terribly under seasoned. The presentation of rucola on top of the meat turned into an un appetizing view after I started eating. My partner's food, cod fish, was also under seasoned. How ever, visually looked better than my steak. We paid 89€ for an appetizer, and two main courses. I had dinner in this restaurant with my girlfriend at the end of a touristic day trip to Pisa and it was an excellent way to end our Pisa visit. The food and service were very good and the ambiance of the terrace outside was really nice. As starter, we took the day special which was a combination of 3 little fish dishes cooked to perfection and with delicious flavors. We followed the starter with a different pasta dish that tasted both amazing. Quantities of starter and pasta dish were so much that we decided a sweet dessert was more than enough to complement our dinner: a creamy tiramisu.
