The Tower House - Wine & Sandwiches — Restaurant in Pisa

We were walking back from the tower down to the central train station. We passed all the popular restaurants with outside seating and then happened to pass by The Tower House. Honestly I was not expecting much. Someone in my group commented, "they must be selling plants" because of all the plants we saw from the outside. It ended up being the best meal we had during this trip!

When we stepped inside, we saw some patrons at the bar drinking espresso. Only a few tables were occupied. We had five people, so we sat ourselves at a bigger table. No one greeted us or served us menus right away.

This is what I tried in order of what I enjoyed: Penne al pomodoro €8 Tonno/brie/pomodori e pate' di olive €11 Lasagna €10 Pappardelle al cinghiale €10 Pappardelle funghi €10

The portion sizes were perfect. We discovered peperoncino (frantumato) here. It was amazing. I wish I was able to find gems like this in Florence.

Every year I go back and every year is better, top quality food, sandwiches, pastas etc etc Wine list and so long. Simple as Schiacciata ( focaccia ) with Mortadella is out of this wold, with a chianti classico is perfect, the service is friendly, honest prices and the bar/ restaurant is spotless. If you come to Pisa you have to try it. I just went back couple of times this week, outstanding!!! Food got better, selection of wines including Le Volte and several other including some Brunello di Montalcino etc etc. I had Cestino di zucchine e ricotta, unbelievable, penne arrabbiata that I am still looking for a restaurant in NY that makes it like that and my friend had Cacio e pepe bucatini as simple as sounds it was one of the best lunch I had in Italy. Friendly place with nice beamed ceiling and arch inside. When I was there with my wife we had three generations of ladies serving behind the counter. There was a little bit of a mixup with the teas and coffees, mainly due to a lack of English but we ended up with something acceptable as you can see from the photo of my satisfied looking wife whose face is an accurate indication of the quality of any establishment.
