This place is a tourist trap. Do not come here. I am so disappointed we had a bad meal in the world’s most beautiful location that is Polignano. The pasta you see in the photo was half of my serving of what they call a first dish - not an appetiser. I had 5 pieces in total and the pasta was cooked terribly in the country that invented it. The pasta was hard and tasted old. The seafood filling was ok. We also had to use the sauce sachets and peel them ourselves for our potatoes. If you charge fine dining prices this is embarrassing. As per other reviews you are charged for tap water - ha imagine the scam! Rubbish service and rude attitude from all involved. Give it a miss and save your money.

Nel cuore vibrante di Polignano a Mare, Il Grottino si presenta come un approdo sicuro per chi cerca i sapori genuini della Puglia. La mia recente visita mi ha lasciato complessivamente soddisfatto, confermando la buona reputazione del locale, sebbene con qualche piccolo margine per raggiungere la perfezione assoluta. La degustazione è iniziata con un piatto iconico: le orecchiette al sugo con burrata. La pasta, di ottima fattura, vantava una cottura al dente impeccabile, trattenendo magnificamente un sugo di pomodoro ricco e ben equilibrato. La burrata centrale, freschissima, aggiungeva una nota cremosa e lussuriosa che si sposava perfettamente con l'acidità del pomodoro e la rusticità della pasta. Un classico eseguito con maestria e rispetto per la materia prima. Successivamente, ho optato per la frittura di pesce. Si è rivelata generosa nella porzione e piacevolmente croccante, segno di una frittura eseguita correttamente, con olio pulito e alla giusta temperatura, risultando asciutta e non untuosa. La varietà del pescato era buona e la freschezza percepibile al palato, accompagnata da spicchi di limone come da tradizione. Un piatto ben riuscito, che soddisfa le aspettative per una frittura di mare onesta. Perché non le 5 stelle piene? Sebbene entrambi i piatti fossero di qualità e ben preparati, mancava forse quel quid di innovazione o quella cura estrema nel dettaglio (magari nella presentazione complessiva o in un servizio impeccabile anche nei momenti di picco) che trasforma un'ottima cena in un'esperienza memorabile da cinque stelle. In conclusione, Il Grottino è un ristorante decisamente consigliato a Polignano a Mare per chi desidera assaporare una cucina pugliese autentica e ben realizzata, basata su ingredienti freschi. Un'ottima scelta per una cena piacevole e gustosa. Merita sicuramente una visita.

Great restaurant on the main street, lively and bright, fun people watching. Wife had the Bream with Mediterranean sauce, said it was the best meal so far in a week in Italy. Whole fish to the table with attractive presentation, and the offered to debon, and returned with equally attractive presentation. I had a pizza, I am boring thar was but it was delicious. Pretty busy night, we waited about 15 mi utes for the table, the seevice excellent in spite of how crowdex it was, the staff all moving fast with great attitudes, they timed it perfectly

Customer service was awful. We’ve had ordered 2 different kind of beef steak. They were made with wrong way as asked. ( medium rare and well done ). When we inform the waiter about it, they took it and bring it back the same pice of it - this time made well done, but it was already horrible. It wasn’t eaten. When we said it is not right, the waiter with dark curly hair gets angry and said if we touched the plate (food) we have to pay full price of it. Well no one really tried to fix this situation. On the end they send someone else to give us a bill so the person doesn’t know what was going on. Thanks to nice waitress with curly red hair to be nice, she made us some 10 euro off of the end payment, well we have had to pay 150€. Doesn’t make much difference. There was no interest from main waiter ( bald man ) who was responsible for our table. Hope this lady doesn’t pay form her...

My mum and I visited Il Grottino Restaurant twice in a row, and both experiences were exceptional. The paccheri with tuna was a delightful surprise, bursting with flavor. The tiella di riso was a comforting dish that warmed my soul. The tortelloni with gamberi were cooked to perfection and left me craving for more. The fritto misto was crispy and delicious, and the pana cotta was a perfect way to end my meal. The standout feature, aside from the delicious food, was the impeccable service provided by Valerio! His friendly demeanor and attentive care truly enhanced our dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Il Grottino to anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure. Five stars...
