I can’t speak for the food, but I believe there may have been a miscommunication regarding the time of our reservation. We arrived for what we had understood to be an 8:00 PM booking, only to be told it was actually for 9:30 PM. Although a few tables were available, I politely asked if it might be possible to accommodate us earlier.
The manager came over and firmly insisted our reservation was at 9:30 PM. When I expressed surprise and asked if he was certain, the situation unfortunately escalated. I was informed there would be a €60 per person penalty, and was subjected to a derogatory comment, including being called an offensive term referencing my nationality. After I clarified that I was Canadian and not American, he continued to address me disrespectfully in Italian.
Ultimately, we were charged the penalty, an unfortunate ending to what was meant to be a pleasant evening. I won’t be recommending this establishment to others, nor will I return. The walk up the hill took 20–25 minutes, and frankly, it wasn’t worth the effort. Save your energy and eat elsewhere for 1/4 to half the price!
The experience reflected a level of arrogance sometimes seen in certain fine dining environments. That said, we went on to enjoy a wonderful meal elsewhere for a fraction of the cost—and were treated with genuine warmth and professionalism, something that the place clearly lacks or did in my experience.
We spoke to the owner today in an attempt to smooth things over and hopefully have him waive the charge and he stuck up for his manager and offered no apologies nor did he accept accountability. We were charged 240 euros to be told off!
Thx for your response to my note. To clarify, and hold you accountable, we called you the next day to discuss and reconcile. You did NOT call us! From the moment we spoke, you were confrontational. You chose not to take accountability. We never “hung up” on you. We mutually ended the call, don’t lie! Maybe there was a language barrier. I’m not sure, nor do I care at this point.
You elected to argue with me, call me “crazy” for believing that your manager would say such bad things and tell me that no such words were communicated to me by your manager.
Btw- you also made it clear that the $240 penalty would still apply for missing the reservation. I didn’t care about the penalty, nor did I bring it up! We can agree to disagree!
I’m over it! It’s the 1st review I’ve ever done and hopefully the last. Clearly, I was upset by what your manager said to me. His words, not...

To start the night, they make you agree to the terms that you must spend €60 per person minimum before you can dine in. Then our server greeted us with a smile that lasted half a second with the bit…rudest attitude ever. She recommended the fish of the day, but once I asked what else she recommended because I didn’t want fish, she said “well I gave you my recommendation, the rest is up to you”. She came back to get our order and that was all we ever saw from her. We finished our meal at 8:53. We didn’t see her again until 9:25. We waited 30 minutes for nothing. I ordered the tiramisu and it’s an absolute joke. Theres not even a lady finger, let alone cocoa powder, nor any flavor. The pasta was about 4 bites, said it had anchovies, not a single anchovy visible. My fiancée ordered the orecchiette and it was so bland, you couldn’t even taste anything. It was actually pretty embarrassing. We were never checked up on, they brought the wrong beer and charged us for it even after they took it away, and then they didn’t bother to even do anything all evening. The server just became super rude and wouldn’t let us leave even though we were tired of waiting around for over an hour total, so we had to order €30 more in dessert to meet the minimum to leave. We were really hoping the dessert saved them, but the chocolate bomb thing tasted like heavy cream, and like I said the tiramisu sucked.
This place is an absolute tourist trap, and the food at Restaurante Saraceno or Da Vincenzo looked much better for half the cost. Don’t waste your time or money here, it’s not worth it. Unless you want to be treated rudely by servers, pay a lot of money for presentable food with no taste, and...
Read moreWe booked this place with request of the table of the good view, and were promised 1st or 2nd row of the tables by the seaview at 9:30 pm. We paid the deposit of €120 immediately. When we arrived at the restaurant they told us to wait “a little”, after 15 minutes we asked how long we would be waiting, they said 10 minutes. 30 minutes later they kept accepting other customers to the tables and we asked what was going on, they said they didn’t have the table with the view that was promised. We were given the choice to keep waiting or to get the table with no view. NO WORD OF APOLOGY. So we accepted the table with no view (look at the picture with “beautiful view”😂) at 10:15 pm, and ordered a bottle of vine and appetizers. Waiter said that all the food to be ordered at once since the kitchen was closing obviously. Fried cod was good and tomatoes with mozzarella tasted authentic. Seasonal vegetables over the hummus were bad, we only tried it. Eggplant parmigiana was ok. Then we ordered filet mignon and gnocchi which were ok, nothing special. Tiramisu we only had a bite. While we are from New York and menu prices were not shocking for us, i can tell that prices are higher than other places. All i want to say, this place looks attractive from the street, giving you the feeling of the cosy romantic place with good views, and then it turns into a place where drunk teenagers will be noisy by the bar while romantic couples be trying to have a moment 🤣. While paying the bill, waiter asked if everything was ok? I told him that we were given wrong table and delayed 45 minutes, he was like whatever. NO WORD OF APOLOGY 😬😬😬 Skip this place. Beautiful Positano is full of good places with good food...
