I felt compelled to leave this review immediately after our time there for the following reasons:
When we (three people) arrived, we asked if there was a table, the girl said ‘no pizza today’. We understood, but in case her English was poor; we smiled and said ‘no problem, a table please’. She shrugged, turned on her heel and we honestly didn’t know if we should follow her or not. When we did, we got to a table set for two, (which was fine, but the place was very quiet and it took them a while to drop over more cutlery). As we were sitting, she asked if we wanted water and we said no. Her response was ‘so what do you want to eat then?’ we said we needed to see menus. She’s pointed at a QR code on the table, said nothing and walked away from the table. As she walked past again; she left a water bottle on our table, mid conversation with one of her colleagues. This was the water we had said we didn’t want.
About 5 minutes went by and no one approached our table. Everyone tried to get the servers attention, at this point it started to feel like deliberate ignorance. So we signalled to someone else who begrudgingly asked for our order.
He took our order and shrugged and walked off. Within a minute our three dishes were on our table, which was great we thought. There was no bread which was to be included with the salads we ordered, we got charged extra for this in the end. We asked for some bread (after signalling several times to various servers). The person who did stop, appeared to inconvenienced by our request for bread. He turned to the table beside us and handed us a basket of bread from there and walked off. We then had to try to signal him again to get oil/vinegar/pepper. This again took time, when the restaurant was not busy and not because the wait team were with other tables. The language barrier that we had assumed at the start, also proved to be irrelevant as the girl who we had met entering the restaurant spent her time at the entrance chatting to guys that were passing by. That was her main focus.
Everywhere I’ve been in Positano/Sorrento has been so pleasant and easy. This place, very much made us uncomfortable. We finished our meal as quickly as possible and left.
Credit where it’s due, the food looks and smells good here. But it’s the service and the atmosphere the waiting team create that makes this place somewhere to avoid in my opinion. It’s a real shame, I guess they feel because of the location and food they can be like this...
Read more100% RACIST towards black tourist!! BEWARE if you are a black person. My friend and I went to the beach to swim, within minutes one of the staff was signalling us to get out of the water because we didn't have a wrist band to swim there. He gestures for us to go further down the beach and when we did he came back within ten minutes asking us to leave the beach. We were only sitting in the water! He said we cannot sit in the water we can only swim in the water unless we pay. - it was racism for sure as half the people on the beach did not have bracelets yet my friend and I (both black women) were the only two being escorted off. When I asked to speak with the manager she insisted because she was cuban they weren't being racist and we had to pay to be on the beach. What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We argued and she grabbed my arm - PHYSICAL ASSAULT - saying I cannot film her and she's calling the police. Then she tried to detain us, however another coworker came and told us we could go. The "manager" (cuban woman) was screaming down the street at us to stay because she's calling the police on us. What a TERRIBLE experience. I asked to speak to her manager, I asked what her name was and who it was following us around the beach and she declined to give me any of that information. - I've been in Italy for two weeks and have not experienced this amount of RACISM AND PHYSICAL ASSAULT anywhere else. It hurts to see how racism is still very much alive in such a beautiful place.
Overall 0/10 - as for the beach - it's all pebbles and rocks, no sand so going barefoot is impossible without literally...
Read moreFirst off, let me start by saying I am a solo female traveler who went to dinner expecting good service. Initially they tried to seat me way in the back when there were seats available upfront where the views are. I was seated where I asked, but then had to wait 15 minutes to place a drink order. I wait another 15 trying to flag down (who I thought) was my server, and finally order. So I thought. Another 15 minutes pass, the person who I was under the impression was my sever then informs me he is NOT my server and my server will be over shortly to take my order. FOURTY FIVE MINUTES I SAT THEIR AND MY WAITER NEVER BOTHERED TO COME OVER TO INTRODUCE HIMSELF LET ALONE TAKE MY ORDER. I was so upset and absolutely shocked at how poorly I was treated (not to mention they asked if they could take the chairs from my table when their were other chairs available at other tables not being used). Then, to add insult to injury, what I assume was a manager or host, drops off the check and has the audacity to add a 2€ surcharge because I “didn’t order food.” I was appalled. I explained what happened and he agreed to take it off after having a massive attitude and saying this is a restaurant not a bar (well of course, I would have loved to spend my money to eat your food. That clearly didn’t happen.). He finally agreed to take off the charge, yet the other host still charged it. I have never been treated so poorly and with such disrespect at a restaurant before. If one of the owners or managers reads this,...
