Agustarello A Testaccio — Restaurant in Rome

Lovely, wonderful and authentic!

We went to Augustarello two nights ago due to the good reviews - and it turned out to be one of the most amazing nights!

We were immediately taken care of by two kind and honest people from the staff. The service felt authentic, committed and engaged - but in a real and honest way. The woman and the man that served us helped us with our needs and with great recommendations, even with practicing our Italian!

The whole experience felt alike - authentic! Seeing the single cook in the kitchen making the most lovely food, picking up ingredients from a table placed in the serving hall just by the costumers, the local Italians gathering to eat, the luxury-looking food, the well-composed design and woody interior: created at the same a high but an intimate, familiar climate.

We ordered a simple dinner for two with the house’s wine and the beautiful fruit cake to finish up - and it was without doubt enough to give us an experience we will never forget.

I will definitely return as soon as I land my feet on Rome again!...

Augustarello is my favourite restaurant ever. I am a roman and i live abroad, when i come back i always make sure to have a reservation and i always send all my collegues that pass by rome.

Food: authentic with the right ingredients of the poor roman cusine, with the full taste of the real cultural local food.

Service: impecable, as guest i was always treated as a king.

The authenticity and the romanitá that you can feel in the restaurant, makes it a very important experience to do once in rome...

Pre-order your table. You will be find it difficult to find a place to seat, especially in winter, although it may appear to be empty, they serve in 2 rounds, until the round starts, the guests did not arrive and also between the two rounds the service will only take care of hygiene and cleaning everything for...

Found this restaurant when looking into good spots for quinto quarto dishes, and was not disappointed. We made a reservation via email, which was smooth, and were very happy to have outdoor seating with a breeze on a hot day, and a view into the even hotter kitchen. The pasta dishes were cooked perfectly, loved the ox tail stew over rigatoni and the tonnarelli alla gricia was fantastic, peppery and with crunchy guanciale. The la pajata was creamy, rich, and delicious, the way it should be, and paired well with a slightly bitter side of roasted chicory and garlic. Staff were also friendly and attentive.
