Food was fine, but the rude and unhelpful staff far outweighed the mediocre pizza.
First, we were given grief about not having the exact amount of cash for the meal. Apparently making change is difficult.
After scrambling to look for the exact change that was demanded, I shoved the receipt in my bag somewhere (we were never told we needed to do anything with it).
After ordered, we then waited uncomfortably for 20 minutes in a small, take away type place waiting for our food, while the employees chatted. No one else was waiting for food and it wasn’t busy.
Finally I gently reminded the man at the counter we were waiting for our food, to which he blankly stared at me, demanded my receipt (which I couldn’t find) chastised me for not keeping it, and eventually made our order. Granted, I should have held onto the receipt but how difficult would it have been for that employee to a. Tell us from the outset that we needed to keep the receipt or the place worked like a coffee bar, or b. After we sat waiting in a relatively empty place for several minutes, offered to help us.
I’m perceptive enough to recognize when my patronage isn’t wanted, and trapizzino was loud and clear that we were not welcome. I wouldn’t...
Read moreThe vegetarian konopizza-style handheld lunch I had was amazing - and my friends loved their meat-based ones as well. It cost €7 for two different 'cones', so good value. They were dripping in olive oil and very salty, but that's just how Italian food is. The fried rice balls were a little too dense and heavy for my liking, but I've never been a big fan of risotto and it was basically mushroom risotto deep fried. The restaurant had a great vibe to it. I could see myself eating here all the time if I were a local. The staff were nice enough, but didn't know very much English so there was confusion with the order. It's a non-issue though in my opinion. If you're in the Testaccio area, or even if you're further afield, definitely stop by for lunch. We went at 2pm on a 29°C Friday afternoon and it had just the right amount of people. It's also a...
Read moreLoved it so much I went back for more! It's a take-away joint with a streetside window, and a few dine-in tables and countertops. Everything is made fresh daily, and it's open until midnight. Excellent snacks. Make sure you get extra napkins as they fill them up full! Polpette al Sugo is one big meatball in marinara sauce stuffed into the focaccia style bread corner. Parmigiana di Melanzane (eggplant parmesan) is a delicious vegetarian option. Pollo alla Cacciatora (chicken cacciatore) is a classic but in a white sauce. Involente di Saltimbocca is rolled pork cutlet. All are delicious. 1 is a snack, 2 will fill you, 3 if you're a big eater. Pro Tip: Get a few different ones and share them. Also they use ingenious paper takeaway containers that keep them upright and not sloshing around...
