Let me tell you about All' Orsetto, the charming little restaurant tucked away in Via Flaminia, Rome. I had heard whispers about this place, and so naturally, I had to see what all the fuss was about.
Firstly, let me say that the food here is top-notch. The ossobucco and saltimbocco dishes were cooked to perfection, and the artichoke starters were simply divine. The flavors were robust and beautifully balanced, and the dishes were presented with a certain elegant simplicity that only the best Italian kitchens can achieve.
The service was a delight too. The friendly, flirty waitress was quick to attend to our every need, speaking English with a fluency that would make any Anglophone feel right at home. And the atmosphere! Well, let's just say it was as cozy and inviting as any you might find in the heart of Rome.
But what I loved most about All' Orsetto was the fact that the restaurant was frequented mainly by locals. This is a place where the true spirit of Italian cuisine is alive and well, where the food is authentic and unpretentious, and where you can rub shoulders with the real Roman people.
All in all, I highly recommend All' Orsetto to anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience. It's a real gem of a restaurant, and one that I will be returning to...
Read moreThe place was nearly empty and no one was greeting or letting us know where to sit or anything. We stood by the entrance for 5-10 minutes. The cashier was there making eye contact but did not bother letting us know if we had to wait for someone or just to sit down. So we walked in and walked around awkwardly for about a minute, when finally someone (possibly a waitress) told us to sit down at a table that was not fully cleaned yet. Note there were other tables that were empty and already prepped for guests. Once we sat down no one gave us a menu. We sat there for about 10 or 15 minutes, with no one acknowledging us or letting us know if we had to order at the counter or if we were doing something wrong. After wasting my time waiting for someone we stood up and left. I hope this was just an incident. Hope what happened to us was just a rare event but I wanted to put it out there as an FYI for...
Read moreThe restaurant is a scam and I highly recommend you NOT to go here. They are charging you 4 euros without any service - JUST FOR THE TABLE!!! They brought us a bread we didn't want, pizza and pasta we had were bad (pizza was literally just a crust with mushrooms), the waitresses are not speaking english at all, and at the end, and I wish I can put a picture of a bill here, they give you a piece of paper with her "calculation" on it. After I called her to check why my bill is 6 euros higher than it should've been she started to bargain with me and lowered my price for 2 euros. After all of that you are still paying a non existent service - EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T ORDER ANYTHING - 4 euros. A HUGE scam, with no bill for us in the end, awful service, awful place, please save yourself some nerves and money and just go eat somewhere else, and enjoy not...
