Antica osteria Da Giovanni — Restaurant in Rome

So, I read reviews and decided to visit this place for dinner. Be aware that the table should be definitely booked in advance, as there are just a few tables inside of the place. The menu is not very variable ( but as I understood, they have different choice of dishes daily) and only in handwritten Italian. Maybe we were not lucky enough to have that choice of meals,and on other days, it is better. We ordered meat balls and eggplant with meat.. both dishes were not tasty at all, very bad surprise...the good thing - prices are low,so we just moved to another place and had a good pizza there. THE worst restaurant ever! Maybe somebody died that day, I don't know, but the whole atmosphere was incredibly sad. The waiter was really unfriendly, food choice was miserable. The service was really slow and we had to wait really long even just to get our drinks. Then the food arrived cold and the portions were incredibly small. The restaurant would be on the cheap side, but for this low quality food it was expensive. I can cook better myself, and i'm a bad chef. I could go on, but i think you got the idea. I wonder how could this restaurant have such good reviews. Never ever...

We enjoyed our dinner here very much. The place is hidden on a busy narrow street but it’s very warm and lively inside and there’s a large outdoor eating area. Everything on the menu was delicious and the service was fantastic so friendly We had the ravioli the pork stew, the chicory salad and the cheese plate. The ravioli was particularly good. I could’ve ordered another. What I liked is that there were very few tourists in this area and I consider this a hidden gem of Trastevere. Bravo Antica Osteria...
