Please avoid this place.
I’m sharing this in the hope that others can avoid the same experience. The owner and staff might recognise me, as I visited their shop after seeing someone claim they had the best focaccia in Italy.
Unfortunately, it was far from the best — you can easily find better elsewhere.
The real issue happened when it was time to pay. I visited on a Sunday, and the staff told me their card machine wasn’t working due to an internet issue, but that it would be fixed by Tuesday. One staff member insisted I go to an ATM to get cash, saying it was just two minutes away.
My partner went out to find an ATM while I waited. The nearest one was broken. He ended up searching for a long time, trying four different ATMs, but our credit card didn’t work at any of them. After all this, he came back, and we were both frustrated and tired.
Then, surprisingly, the staff decided to try the card machine again — and it worked immediately.
We wasted a lot of time and energy over €26.50, which completely disrupted our holiday mood. This experience was not only inconvenient but also deeply disappointing.
A place that treats customers like this does not deserve your time or support. Please think twice...
Read moreMy husband & I found Baguetteria del Fico on one of the hottest July days in Rome. And we’re so glad we did. The two gentlemen working were personable and friendly without being overbearing. They offered suggestions when asked and were delightful, but otherwise just left us to enjoy our visit. The food was fantastic. I ordered the Taste of the Garden sandwich and my husband ordered something with ham and sundried tomatoes. Both sandwiches were a terrific size, served on a crusty loaf of bread. My sandwich had delicious grilled eggplant that was just what I wanted. We sat at a high top table for two and enjoyed our sandwiches with a refreshing bottle of crisp white wine. Both the sandwiches and the wine were just what we wanted/needed on that hot day. I cannot recommend this cozy place enough if you want to step away from the hustle and bustle of Rome and enjoy a wonderful meal on a quiet side street. Bonus — there is a fountain to refill your water just across from the shop! Five stars -...
Read moreMy husband and I were so happy with our choice to stop here for a late lunch. The owner, Vladimir, is amazing and runs this place so well. He is so inviting and friendly. You can tell he is really enjoying what he does and takes pride in his establishment. He chose beers for us based on the type we wanted and we were both impressed with ours. There aren't many places you can find good beers, so this was a treat. We also both got sandwiches, and they were so so so yummy, and it was fun to watch them be made with fresh ingredients. Vladimir also brought us treats during our meal and let us try some of his cheese. It was just overall one of our best experiences so far in Italy. It can be hard to find good customer service but not here. Hope to come back again next time we...
