Bar Pasticceria D'Amore — Restaurant in Rome

This busy corner bar is closed only a few hours each day. It runs from 6 in the morning till 2am. It is professionally staffed and we were remembered (hopefully for all the right reasons) on returning a year later. The bar's character changes with the time of day, as does that of most Italian hostelries. Workers mingle with tourists and families at the beginning of the day, buying coffees and pastries, with drinks and nibbles being served outside at lunchtime. Come the evening there is a buzz around the bar area as people come in after dinner for digestivi. The going rate for an espresso at the bar (à banca) is a euro and the prices are reasonable for where this place is. As with most of these establishments, expect to pay more when food and drink is brought to the tables outside. Wonderful and affordable bakery and coffee from this cafe.

Their cappuccino and espresso are superb. The aftertaste of espresso lingers.

Their croissant is soft. The honey on its surface is refreshing.

Their totō worths a try. Just fit. Not very sweet.

Just a few tables and seats outside the cafe. Besides tourists like me, it seems that quite a lot of local residents visit this cafe and have their coffee with their dogs at the patio. This brings to you a joyful and peaceful picture.

The owners are very friendly and diligent. They are very patient when I don't know Italian. Indeed they can speak fluent English.

5 estrellas y porque no hay más. Estuve a principios de febrero conociendo Roma y me encantó la ciudad, pero este sitio ha pasado a ocupar un sitio en mi corazón. El primer día entré a desayunar aquí y ya no pude cambiar. No entiendo cómo puede haber reseñas negativas. El café y la bollería/repostería es de 10 (lástima que no me dió tiempo a probarlo a nivel de vinos, pues también es enoteca y la dueña es sumelier). Pero lo mejor de todo era el señor que estaba en el lado del bar. Desde primera hora de la mañana regala sonrisas, conversación, interés y afecto por cada una de las personas que por ahí van pasando con prisa camino de sus trabajos y demás. Me encantaba desayunar ahí leyendo y observando a la vez cómo hace más bonito el día a la gente, se sabe el nombre de la mayoría, les dedica un "Buenos días" con brillo en sus ojos y con una sonrisa y la gente se va más feliz a vivir sus días. El segundo día ya me recibió así, como una más de su familia madrugadora de clientes habituales. Y así día tras día. No hablaban español, pero aun así conseguíamos entendernos. El último día quise escribirle una nota para valorar la labor tan importante que hace por lo demás, haciendo que los días sean más bonitos. Quería agradecerle el amor por su trabajo y sus clientes y, por ello, usé el Google Traductor para poder escribirle la nota en italiano y que así pudiera entenderla. Me encantó la felicidad y emoción que demostró sentir tras leerla, a cada cliente que entraba se la enseñaba brillando y sonriendo... Me fui de Roma con el corazón lleno. Tenemos que aprender a valorar esos momentos, esos trabajos, esas personas con las que nos cruzamos día a día y que hacen que nuestros días sean mejores. Y no sólo a criticar aquello que no nos gusta o nos contraría. Ojalá pueda volver pronto a disfrutar de un desayuno estupendo y esas sonrisas.
