Hits and misses at this place. There was some miscommunication initially and I didn't get a reservation but once I was seated they were very nice and professional
The egg yolk ricotta large ravioli is really a showoff dish, the ricotta really doesn't taste of much except goatiness, no character at all. Skip
Sheep brain was super creamy but does have a strong iron taste at the back, however that's where the porcini comes into play. The porcini is not bad and serves to overwhelm the iron taste. Unfortunately it's a little bit sandy, but the whole dish is not bad at all, if strongly seasoned.
Duck was excellent. It's one of the best I've had, the rare meat had a slightly bouncy texture on top of expected slight chewiness for this cook. What makes it special is the super aromatic well charred crust, which is completely unnatural for duck and it's almost affixed. The clear sauce was really good too, with the sweet and sour blending w the duck
Tagliatelle tastes like perfect mee pok, except the wild boar Ragu was absolutely tasteless. Skip
Signature pear tart (which is the brown bulbous pics u see) ran out today, so I got the apple pie. It's served w zabaione with good complexity, although it's more of a cupcake than pie/tart. Apple was also more just a touch,...
Read moreUnfortunately we had a very bad experience (and possible food poisoning) at Monti. After a round of bland fried starters, and an OK pasta course, we received the wrong main course (duck instead of rabbit) and an extremely salty filled squid. We had to send both dishes back, and after waiting another 20 minutes to receive our new dishes (by this time the restaurant was already empty), we were disappointed by a plate of overcooked rabbit and a plate of stuffed squid, which now had a different, thin sauce made up of a bit of fish stock emulsified with butter. The waiter did not explain why the sauce was different now(I assume they ran out). At 6am in the morning came my worst surprise which would last up to two days; food poisoning. I have ruled out all the other possible sources of contamination and Monti was the only place at which I have eaten food which can contain parasites or bacteria. We were sad as the bill was rather high and this place had been recommended by a...
Read moreWe've been there with a bigger group (14) and made a reservation, but they were unable to place us all on one table, we had to split up to two tables! They have a small menu and the food is fresh and tasty, but the portions are not very big, not even big enough to leave the restaurant satisfied! For the main dish we even had to order some extra side dishes, that was even recommended by the waiter! We had an Italian red wine, which was quite nice....but when the bill came it was clear that this restaurant is very pricey! The food is in my eyes not worth the price! It was as already mentioned fresh but not more than ok and not extra tasty! I would not recommend the restaurant to friends and will not go there again, even it was a nice evening....but that was because of the...
