Brucio o Brucio! This spot was very empty when we had arrived during early dinner time. The service was very great and the staff were friendly. I had gotten the ravioli Al pomodoro con la buratta and the pici Al pesto con stracciatella and also the fried mozzarella and pizza margarita bufala. The ravioli was absolutely stupendous! Even though it only came with three they were really big and filled generously. The tomato sauce was nice and sweet while the pasta itself was perfectly cooked. Damn near perfect! As for the pesto pasta the sauce was finger licking good but the only thing I would critique is that the pasta was slightly undercooked. These dishes were also salted perfectly. As for the fried mozzerella it was also really good but I wouldn’t get it again. Finally the pizza was thin and had a nice crisp on the crust with a slight flop in the middle. The sauce resembled the ravioli tomato sauce which I really enjoyed but just be aware it is on the sweeter side. Overall the pizza was still really good but I have had better in my time at Rome. I would still come again to try different pasta and pizza. I highly recommend the ravioli al pommodoro if you visit! Really great...
Read moreWanted pizza before we left Rome. Chose Brucio based on ratings & short walking distance from hotel. They didn’t look too busy for a Friday evening but made us feel like if we didn’t have reservations we were given a subpar table on a downward slant outside. Took awhile to place order. Bottle of Chianti, Caprese & Margarita pizza. The pizza came out immediately. We thought maybe we were getting someone else’s pizza. Then caprese. We had to inquire about the wine we ordered. It finally arrived… the bottle was very warm. Tasted fine, but very warm. Dessert- tiramisu was mostly mascarpone & some chocolate cake. No coffee flavor. Cheesecake with Carmel was good. Overall- just an average experience. People on 1 side of us received drinks immediately. But 1 entrees came out way before the other. So the man felt bad eating his pasta while woman waited for a calzone they had to inquired about twice. Another couple sat down on our other side & after being ignored for several...
Read moreTucked into an alley near Piazza Navona, with some cute outdoor tables, you'll find this small, modern pizzeria.
The interior style is pop, adorned with various irreverent illustrations, and the pizza oven with the pizzaiolo working right after the dining room.
The pizza is Roman-style: very thin crust with small crispy edges. My margherita didn't particularly impress me. The overall taste and texture were a bit weak. The only positive note was the well-cooked tomato sauce with a pleasant flavor.
However, the fried artichoke saved the dinner. It was crispy but not tough, and very well-seasoned with flakes of Maldon salt. Very enjoyable.
The service was a bit clumsy. The staff seemed to be not so coordinated, and the guy at our table was often distracted, in addition to being slightly pushy at certain points during the meal.
Prices are appropriate for the area and for what you get.
Overall, an okay choice for a pizza in the city center, but not worth the trip if...
