Wow, just wow!!!
This place deserves even more credit than even the five star reviews.
Get booked in early or expect a long wait, but the wait will be worth it.
We tried our luck and put our name down for a walk in sitting, we put our name and phone number down for them to call and WhatsApp us when the table was ready, the wait was 90 mins and was definitely worth it.
We were sat inside at a lovely little table for two, table setting was lovely and the ambiance was perfect, smart but casual.
Front of house staff were all very friendly and professional, attentive but left us alone enough to have some privacy (perfect), the olives they gave us whilst waiting to order were extremely yummy and huge.
We ordered the BURRATA OF THE CHEF and BEEF CARPACCIO to start and were not disappointed. The Burrata was amazing, so creamy inside and full of delicate flavours, the Carpaccio fresh and generous in portions. If the starters were anything to go by, we’ll be in for a real treat.
For mains, we elected to go for the FARAONA Guinea fowl cooked at low temperature and roasted with citrus flavored pork lard and giardiniera vegetables and Tonnarelli of Duck, pasta with a ragou of duck and hazelnut crumble. After spending a week dining on the best Italian cuisines, the flavour pallet offered by these two dishes were a welcomed surprise. Rustic, traditional family cooking comes to mind, but with a more professional and modern spin. I found myself switching between the two dishes and finding it hard to decide was my favourite dish of our Italian holiday, it was that good. The jury is still out, I’ll need a few more visits to decide.
So when it came to desserts, we had to take the advice from the lovely staff to help us make a decision. We ordered the special of the day which was a layered honey cake “Dolce come il miele” and their famous Mousse di ricotta. And once again, I couldn’t decide which was better!!!
This was to be our last dinner in Italy for this trip and I don’t think we could have picked a better restaurant. CiPasso Bistro wasn’t on our list of “must eats” it will be firmly on the top of that list for Rome.
Well done to the front of house and hats off to the kitchen, I only wished we found this place at the start of our trip and got to sample...
Read moreAfter 3 weeks of exploring Italy's street food and fine dining restaurants, we concluded that CiPASSO was our favourite experience. The Chef's passion and expertise really shined through each dish. Highly recommend the "Gricia Estiva" (carbonara & cacio e pepe crossover) and "Tonnarelli e Anatra" (duck ragout) pasta dishes. Although their descriptions are straightforward, the flavours were highly sophisticated, surprising, and harmonious. Another classic is their Saltimbocca which was cooked to perfection, and well paired with their refreshing "fagioli corallo" (coral beans with tomatoes and mint). We can confidently say that every aspect of these dishes in terms of flavour, balance, texture, and culinary skill were extremely well thought out. Their pastas are on another level, and truly best food we had throughout this trip.
We need to especially compliment their service too. First was the kind lady over the phone who offered to try and save us a table on our spontaneous visit. We ended up getting seated immediately on a busy Friday night. Despite our casual attire, we were treated with the upmost respect and kindness. Their staff were very knowledgable on their recommendations and pairings too. Finally, they even handed us a voucher for a complimentary cacio e pepe ravioli on our next visit for lunch!
What shocked us the most was the affordability. Throughout our trip, we have paid premium prices for food at this level of quality & complexity, yet our meal only totalled to 60euros (excluding drinks). Not even in our home country have we ever came across a restaurant of this quality, price, environment, and service.
CiPASSO's high ratings are well deserved. A very humble restaurant distant from tourist attractions, and filled with locals. We later learnt that it was in fact one of the local's favourites in Rome. At CiPASSO, we were able to taste all of Rome's classic dishes at high authenticity and deliciousness. It was a perfect wrap to...
Read moreI want to Start by Saying that the Restaurant owner reached out after this review. We had a great conversation about our experience. He expressed his sincere concern and how he would like to address the concern as a real issue. I really appreciate his willingness to take feedback about his food and openness to improve the experience. I had already left Rome at the time but I would return to give them another shot. Thank you
I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews, but I was deeply disappointed. The food was bland and uninspired, and the presentation was not enough to make up for it.
I started with the beef tartare, which was just a pile of raw meat with no seasoning what so ever, between two crackers some tasteless sauce, just very bland. The lobster pasta was also very plain, and it lacked any complex flavors. The presentation was beautiful, but the taste was not there.
The only positive thing about the experience was the Rose wine.
My kids got the spaghetti meatballs and the special butter and cheese pasta, and they both liked their food. However, I didn’t find anything special about them.
The service was good, and the ambiance was avarage. However, the food was so disappointing that it outweighed the positives. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good fine dining experience.

I was surprised by how bland the food was, given the high ratings that the restaurant had received. I felt like the restaurant was trying too hard to be fancy, and it ended up sacrificing the taste of the food.
This is based on my tase and opinion and please feel free to...
