A great wine bar with excellent food. Our server was polite and very helpful in helping to select a bottle of wine from their list which is the size of a book. He said they had over 1,500 wines so I was a bit overwhelmed. The wine was outstanding. I thought we made a good choice when I saw two men of the cloth sharing conversation and a glass of wine at a nearby table. The first visit we had the charcutier as it was still early and it was very good. The experience was so good we decided to go back a few days later for dinner and found all the outdoor tables full or reserved so we sat inside which was nice. It quickly got full and they had to turn people away. I had the guinea fowl and wheat which was basically roasted chicken but moist and tender and bulgur wheat that had some of the fowls stock mixed in. Very simple dish but delicious and a nice change from pasta. I'd suggest looking into a reservation if you're...
Read moreWe’ve been coming to Cul de Sac on and off for over 25 years, and it never disappoints. This historic enoteca, just steps from Piazza Navona, is one of Rome’s best spots for simple, honest, and rustic food, paired with an incredible selection of wines.
Our go-to? A basket of bread, fresh tomatoes, and a bottle of Sassicaia to start, setting the tone for a meal that’s all about quality ingredients. Whether it’s a hearty stew, a rich pâté, or a perfectly cooked pasta, the food is unpretentious but packed with flavor—just good, honest Roman cooking.

It was drizzling a bit, so I chose to sit at an outdoor table to enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the space was so tight that it was almost impossible not to bump into the people behind me. (Most Italian restaurants are quite compact, but this one felt especially cramped.)
Thankfully, the food was very satisfying. The ravioli and oxtail stew were not overly salty and were delicious.
Looking at the reviews, I noticed some complaints about the staff's attitude. Observing how they treated other guests, I concluded it wasn’t about racism—it seemed the staff were simply not very friendly overall.
That said, the food was good, so I’d still recommend the place. It also seemed like a nice spot to relax with a glass of wine and unwind...
