Dar Bottarolo Roma Trastevere — Restaurant in Rome

I visited Dar Bottarolo with my gf for their "all you can eat pasta" menu. The restaurant is located in the charming neighborhood of Trastevere, and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. The waiters were friendly and attentive, and they offered us some appetizers before the pasta.

However, the appetizers were not very satisfying, and we had to wait for 30-40 minutes for our pasta dishes to arrive. When they finally did, we were disappointed by the quality and the temperature of the pasta. It was supposed to be "Gricia" or "Carbonara" from Rome, but it looked and tasted nothing like it. It was bland and lukewarm, and we could not enjoy it as much as we hoped.

Overall, we had a nice time at Dar Bottarolo, but we were not impressed by the food. The price was reasonable, but the wait was too long for a simple pasta. We appreciate the service and the ambiance, but we suggest that they improve their cooking and their timing. We are glad that we tried this place, but we are not sure if we would...

Stasera dopo svariato tempo io e la mia compagna ci siamo recati Dar Bottarolo, premetto che siamo sempre trovati bene in qualsiasi dei loro ristoranti in cui siamo stati, compreso questo visto che ci siamo stati più di una volta. Avevamo una prenotazione per 2 stasera alle 21:00 a nome di Salvatore proprio nel ristorante della zona Trastevere. Dopo esserci accomodati e ordinato per "All You Can Eat" abbiamo atteso le nostre portate. Per quanto riguardo l'antipasto (forse un po' misero rispetto a quello che ricordavamo) non possiamo dire nulla, tutto di nostro gradimento. Riguardo ai primi, invece, iniziamo con il dire che avevo chiesto un tipo di pasta ma ahimè me ne è stato portato un altro tipo (però fa nulla, abbiamo pensato fosse stato un errore del cameriere, visto che non parlava e non capiva neanche benissimo l'italiano), però la cosa che ci è deluso molto è che non erano per niente buone! La mia era scotta e decisamente molle, quella della mia compagna non era una cacio e pepe ma una pasta con il burro. Eravamo totalmente delusi però non ci siamo scoraggiati e abbiamo provato a rifarci con un bel secondo, ma è proprio qui che arriva il peggiore dei problemi! Per prima cosa abbiamo ordinato 2 porzioni di polpette al sugo e 2 insalate miste, ma ci hanno portato solo 1 porzione di polpette e 1 porzione di insalata, con la scusa "se non vi basta ve ne portiamo un altra". Ci siamo fatti quindi poi portare le altre porzioni che mancavano e abbiamo così iniziato a mangiare ma all'improvviso la mia compagna, già totalmente disgustata da quello che aveva visto, mi fa notare la presenza di capelli nelle polpette. Così comincio a controllare anche il mio piatto e mi rendo conto di averne anche nel mio! Quelli nel mio piatto un po' più corti di quelli presenti nel piatto della mia compagna, mi fa pensare che le norme igieniche le hanno decisamente lasciate a casa, visto che nell'aprirsi delle porte della cucina, li ho proprio visti con i miei occhi non indossare le cuffie! Totalmente disgustati, facciamo notare al cameriere quello che avevamo trovato, e gli abbiamo chiesto di portare via subito quelle portate! Il cameriere dopo essersi scusati però non riporta a nessuno l'accaduto, lasciandoci inorriditi. Cosicchè arrivati alla cassa, abbiamo fatto notare alla persona addetta ai pagamenti dell'accaduto e le abbiamo chiesto possibilmente di parlare con un responsabile. Lei senza esitare ci ha risposto che la responsabile fosse proprio lei, ma non appena le abbiamo chiesto come potessimo risolvere all'accaduto, con totale menefreghismo, oltre al non cercare di rimediare all'errore non ci chiede neanche una minima scusa, facendoci pagare la bellezza di 53,60€! Uno schifo, non ci torneremo mai più, ve lo posso assicurare! Tutto questo è vergognoso! Responsabile per niente all'altezza, non sa neanche come si fa quel lavoro!...

I really wanted to visit this restaurant. I drove around 1 hour to get there. It’s a dark place, not very touristic area.

I decided to make a reservation the same night I went and it shows reservation between 7:30 -9:30 pm.

When I got there at 8:35, the only waiter approached and looked at the time and said: “look at the time with me, 8:35. Not 7:30. You are late”

The reservation doesn’t specify the time slot That has to be followed, after humiliating me a little, while in front of the entire restaurant he saw my surprised and sad face about how he treated me and said he could take me.

There were plenty ways to fix that but he decided to make it difficult.

I said thank you and left and I’m definitely not looking...
