During our three month stay in Rome, whenever we were craving sushi, rice or ramen we headed to Sushi Restaurant Koi. Lunch is €17,90 and dinner is €23,90 and a great deal. Takeout is very inexpensive ala carte. Alcohol and desserts are extra, bottled water etc. is also extra. Yes this place is BUSY especially at night! The hostess last night, who was also my waitress was literally running back and forth, cleaning tables, bringing food, greeting people, just to make sure I didn’t wait long even though it was just me last night. I know you don’t tip in Rome but she definitely deserved it! The food at Koi is great! Thai “spaghetti” (lo-mein) with shrimp is my favorite, the grilled teriyaki shrimp & salmon is delicious, and the uramaki venere ebi tempura philadelphia is the best uramaki I’ve ever had. If we order the shrimp rice we also order a side of teriyaki shrimp to add to the rice and it is so good. The ramen, fried calamari, tempura, and everything is so good!
It is so easy to order; there is an iPad at your table. You select what you want, send the order, and they come running back-and-forth with whatever you order. It’s great!
Everything we’ve ever ordered from Koi is so fresh and so good, and the service is terrific that’s why we keep going back.
Koi employees work very hard to please everyone at once. We’ve never had a problem with service or the food during any of the nine times we’ve been there.
Have some patience and enjoy your meal! You’re in Rome, relax.

(NOTES: After reading Alexandra’s review we laughed. There is no way the food was cold being that Koi is so busy! The food at Koi is always made to order on the spot and food is moving nonstop. In Rome it has been very hot and humid (over 90° now) so there is no way their salmon was cold. 😂 We have been to Koi nine times in the past three months and there has NEVER been an issue with the food. The fresh fish is cold yes, and anything grilled or cooked was never cold. Stating the owner needs to have self respect and close Koi down is the dumbest remark. Why would an owner who is making money hand over fist close down a...
Read moreIf you are really hungry for some (ok but not excellent) sushi then ok. but I went by myself (sole traveller) because I was on my own, and even though it was a very quiet time (early lunchtime) they tried to put me in the most out of the way corner right next to where all the staff were having their own meal quite noisily and I wondered why they did that beyond trying to hide a single aged female customer. Anyway I asked to move to a table more in the main bit of the restaurant which was fine. You order at the table on iPads which is good and clear and you can see what you are getting (to some extent) from the pictures....but it comes when it comes (or in my case much of it didn't come at all until I chased)....the edamame were awful so skip them if you like edamame. The salmon rolls (maki??) were very large - which is fine if you like them large but these were clumsily large and quite offputting and I struggled to eat them (the catch with the all-in is that you have to eat everything you order)....the best value - and I went back for more, were the ikura....possibly worth going for those alone if you like ikura - and other things were fine if not exceptional. The waiter service was very poor indeed and unfriendly. The restaurant itself is a nice decor with really interesting and unusual sinks in...
Read moreThis place was unexpectedly great! We were wondering the streets of Rome and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious and moderately priced food! We had the "all you can eat" lunch which was 15.90€ and had a bunch of food to choose from - and not just sushi!
There were vegetarian options but they were fairly limited for choice of sushi. However, what I did order was phenomenal.
If you're a tourist I would suggest bringing your phone to translate some of the menu items, even if you change the tablets language to English. The drinks will also cost money when you order them, but they are the most well priced drinks we have seen so far in Rome outside the grocery store. I paid 2.80€ per shot of liquor which is much better than the 5+ € we've seen everywhere else.
Also, I don't think the staff speaks English and unfortunately I don't speak Italian, but they were so willing to work with us is was amazing! Thank you to the staff of Koi...you made this experience...
