If you’re not welcoming to tourists or international customers, why open a café in a tourist area?
I visited this café on 24 July for a quick afternoon espresso, drawn in by its strong Google reviews and the award plaques by the door.
Not realising there was table service, I went up to the counter to order. No one corrected me — instead, I was met with cold, dismissive service throughout.
The atmosphere was tense: the staff looked burnt out, and the manager seemed visibly irritated.
I did end up ordering a dessert — the tiramisu was fine, though the cocoa-powdered “OK” on the plate was… unexpected and confusing.

Read moreWe had a bit of a mixed experience here. The coffee was great, and one of the waiters was very attentive and polite. The other person who served us interrupted our conversation to shout ‘change!’ at us several times. It was clear she wanted us to change tables, but given we were neither offered an explanation, nor the word ‘please’, we did not feel like obliging.
She later came to apologise, but I still have no idea what she created the situation for. Maybe I was missing something, but even if there was a legitimate reason to move tables, I expect to be told discreetly, rather than to be shouted at. Read morePopped into Er Barretto and was greeted by some seriously good vibes — cozy, welcoming, the kind of spot you wish was around the corner from your apartment.
Tried the cinnamon cappuccino, and wow — chef’s kiss. Warm, frothy, perfectly spiced, like a hug in a cup. Definitely worth coming back for.
Now, the barley coffee… not so much. I’ve had better — this one leaned a bit bitter and didn’t quite hit the mellow, nutty notes I was hoping for. Maybe an off day? Maybe a stronger batch than usual? Either way, would skip that next time.
