I just went there because it's close from my hotel and my host gave my a 10% voucher. I wasn't so sure at first but they actually had a decent vegan breakfast offer. Food and coffee were ok. Nothing special but good for the price (11 €).
The service however was not. It was very busy and all tables taken, but just before I ordered, people at a table right at the bar left. So I asked, if I could sit there, but was told there where people waiting for a table in line outside. So I would have to order To-Go, which I did. Five minutes into waiting for my food the table was still free, so I asked for it again, but was told again, it's not free. Another few minutes later, a couple walked in, asked for a table and was seated there immediatly. When I complaint, that they weren't in fact waiting but just walked in, I was simply told in a snappish way: "Yes, but you already ordered To-Go."
So I left with my food, pissed and without tipping for obvious reasons, and ate outside at the fountain next door. I won't go there again for the rest of my stay in Rome. As convenient it is being decently priced and close to the hotel. It's mass processing and I feel like they saw the opportunity to sell one more breakfast and get me out fast without "wasting" a table on me.
Added after comment by the owner: It is not true that they were combining any tables. All tables were taken, all staff was behind the bar. When I walked in there were people outside but they were all gone before I even ordered and before the people from said table left. So neither were there people waiting for a combination of three tables nor were there any other free tables nor did anybody except for a quick cleaning ever touch said table. This table was free the whole time since before I ordered until they almost finished my order (approx. 8-10 min). The couple who then got the table just walked in and asked if this...
Read moreOn our last day in Rome, my toddler and I (7 months pregnant) went to have breakfast at this cafe while my partner went to drop our luggage in a nearby locker. We were supposed to be only my kid and I for breakfast, so I asked for a table for two and waited for about 20 minutes in a queue. Once a table was available, we were seated and ordered our food. Right before our order arrived, my partner came back, the luggage drop having been much faster than we anticipated (and the queue to the cafe much longer). He then sat on my son’s chair with our son on his lap to wait for us to eat. We ordered an extra coffee and croissant for my husband. It wasn’t the most comfortable setup but given the unforeseen situation and that we were pushed for time, we made do. Promptly a waitress came to say that the table was for two people, not three, and I foolishly thought she was going to offer an extra chair or something (there was easily enough room for that), but she was actually saying we had to go back to the end of the queue or be kicked out of the establishment. The food we had ordered was ready at this point so we asked for it to be put in a takeaway box and for some disposable cutlery. They only included cutlery for one person, so in the end me, my enormous pregnant belly and 3 my year old son ended up eating scrambled eggs sitting on the side of a dirty street by the restaurant, my toddler with a fork and me making do with just a plastic knife. When we passed by again after finishing our meal the table we were expelled from was still empty. Another waitress was a bit embarrassed and briefly apologised for the “misunderstanding” but...
Read moreAwful experience, avoid if possible! We went there for brunch before visiting the Colosseum and we patiently waited in the line, until it came our time to sit and eat. When we got sited, a waitress came and started shouting at us in Italian and did some gestures that signal to stand up. When we stood up, came another waitress and told us that we skipped the line and they won’t serve us for that. Amazed we looked at each other, as we were waiting at the line over 20 minutes for just breakfast and when finally the time came they kicked us out with the worst manners. Because we didn’t have time to argue, we left but this behaviour, especially against tourists, shows a lot about the store’s customer policy. Again, avoid if possible!
Ps. Answer to the owner about his opinions on the matter. Yes, it could be a mistake that we skipped the line and didn’t understand that there was people ahead of us, but the way it was handled by the waitress that spoke English, who slammed the knife and the fork in front of me on the table, was inexcusable. That’s why everything I wrote about the staff is true and I don’t mention anything that didn’t happened. If this is your behaviour against somebody who made a mistake, imagine your behaviour towards someone who was wrong. My...
