Fonzie The Burger's House | Santa Maria del Pianto — Restaurant in Rome

Beware! This is not normal for Italy! Probably the worst restaurant experience of my life — out of anywhere in the world, including countries I've been to with notoriously "bad" customer service. They treat foreingers awfully. I used to eat here weekly but will never go back. Today, the regular worker at this branch was rude and aggressive when I stopped in to ask if I could use the bathroom. I go here a lot and was eating next door at a street food place so assumed I could ask. It was out of order so I said va bene and carried on. No problem. For some reason, me asking triggered the worker and he followed me onto the street out telling me I shouldn't have asked, demanding to know who told me I could ask. He literally aggressively got in my face, cursed me out in Italian and told me to only speak Italian. I've never seen anything like this. The owner (who, to be fair, seems like a very nice person) came to try to resolve the issue and stood there as his worker told me to "shut up" and agressively mocked me speaking saying "blah blah blah shut up" while moving his hand and again approached me aggressively and got very close to me as if he wanted to fight — in front of the owner!! The owner watched his employee curse, tell me to shut up and get in my face and seemed to accept the...

So, a very good friend of mine in Dallas Texas insisted I had to try this place when I was in Rome. So many choices and I thought why would I try a Burger Joint? He said “you must try their Chicken Sandwich”. I said what the heck, just listen to my friend. I decided to have the “Crispy Royal” which is a white bun, lettuce, tomato, double tartar sauce, chili pepper, guacamole sauce, and bbq sauce. I also had a side of their onion rings. What can I say other than it literally was the BEST chicken sandwich of my life. The onion rings killed also big time. I have only one more day in Rome, but I think I know where I’m coming...

Fonzie is a Kosher burger bar, but besides for a religious reason you should go there for an outstanding burger. I had one with bacon and jalapeños. First, the quality of the beef is good. The beef is cooked with a perfect balance between a well cooked crust on the patty, that is not burned but browned perfectly and an equally juicy interior. It was perfect. The sauce in mine was delicious. I also ordered fries (not included with the burger) crunchy brown and just out of the fryer. So a great burger with a perfect side of fries. Don't expect cheese or milk shakes......
