Sorry if I compare this place to the U.S. too much, but America is very proud of their beef and beer, so I think it's only logical.
We walked from the Colosseo metro stop to here. A bit more than 1 mile, but I'm sure a bus will bring you within a couple minutes walk.
Coming from the northeast U.S., good beer is relatively difficult to find in Italy. The wine certainly makes up for that, but I had to try this place that the locals recommended for the beer. The beer is very good, but the burgers are unbelievable. The best I've ever had, and I've had some very good ones in the States. My companion agreed. Ordered medium and it was exactly medium. Not grey all the way through like is often the case when you order a medium burger, but with a slight tinge of pink. The buns and other ingredients were also high quality. They have a couple dozen types of burgers and all look very interesting and well conceived, with unique options that make them uniquely Italian and you wouldn't find in the U.S. The chips they serve are also delicious.
We got "flights" of beers which are actually served in proper beer glasses on a placemat with the names of the beers next to each glass. Very generous sample sizes for the price. I'm not usually a fan of spiced beers on the U.S. but they were good here. And yes, the beers are made by Baladin.
Staff were pleasant and smiling, service maybe a little slow considering the place was not crowded, but we were in absolutely no rush and happy to slowly consume the beers. Feels more like an American bar especially with the mostly American music, so it's odd to step out on the narrow street paved with basalt blocks.
Summary: A place certainly worth going to just for a drink even if you're a beer snob, and an absolute must if you like a good burger because frankly, they do it better...
Read moreVery poor experience. 🙅🏼♀️
The service all together was super slow and we felt like the waitress was deliberately ignoring us. The burgers are not served with french fries and still cost relatively lot (10-15€) while being very small and basic! You can do better burgers at home. s a gluten-intolerant person, there was minimal to zero options, and even when I tried to order the one thing that was ok (chicken from the grill), they say they have ran out of chicken. 🤷🏼♀️ So, I ended up having a burger "on the plate" and it was once of the most miserable things I've ever seen in my life. The "potatoes" are not french fries but chips/crisps, just so that you know what you're ordering. Homemade so ok, but not worth the money. Drinks are expensive and small ( for example soft drinks were 3,5€ for 20ml and I was the beer prices I found surprisingly expensive). When giving the staff feedback, it was not taken well.
I advice you to avoid this place. 👎🏻 I'm sure you'll get better burgers and better service anywhere else.
Didn't even take pictures, tells how...
Read moreMy husband was stoked to find this tap house in Rome, so we made a point of walking far out of our way to visit. Unfortunately we were really disappointed with our experience. The service was some of the worst we had ever had. Our server checked on us once when we first sat down, then we waited 20-30 min for someone to take our drink order. When we tried to ask our server to place our order, she just pointed to one of the other staff and walked away. When our drinks did arrive, they got my order wrong but it felt impossible to even flag down the staff to tell them this. We husband did really enjoy his beer though!
It seemed like a busy night and the staff were spread pretty thin, but we felt uncomfortable and ignored for the entire time we were there. We had intended to stay longer but left after one drink because of our poor experience. This seemed like a cool place but definitely needed more...
