We were on holiday in Roma and visited this gelato shop at via Venti Settembre 60 Roma yesterday around 12.30pm. The shop was virtually empty and so we found a table easily.
We ordered gelatos's and crepes. Whilst eating our food we noticed that one of our backpacks was missing. We searched the shop but could not find it.
We then immediately reported to manager that one of our backpacks was stolen whilst we were in the shop. The manager and staff provided no help, advice or support making out it was our fault and nothing to do with them
We were told that nothing could be done and this happens regularly. The staff also stated your cctv cameras did not work!
The 'manager' then had a loud argument with customers who overheard our complaint as they were not happy with the lack of help by your staff. She never returned to see us.
As the staff did not take our details or provide advice we left the shop and searched the area around to find the backpack. No backpack was found
We are so shocked and disappointed with the attitude of the staff and the manager.
I have posted this primarily for other tourists (or locals) to be vigilant with their possessions even in a gelato shop.
I am too upset to rate the food!
Update: As expected no apologies/response from the manager or the owner or...
Read moreIf you're ever in Rome, it is definitely worth the trip to La Romana Gelateria. Thankfully we were staying around the corner so we were lucky enough to visit every day/night. Their ice-cream is absolutely delicious! I had the salted caramel with pecan, bacio, coffee with pistachio. All 3 were sensational! My 14yo son tried the pumpkin crumble pie and he loved it (he doesn't even like pumpkin!). We both agree that La Romana Gelateria is the best icecream we have EVER had anywhere in the World - and my son has devoured A LOT of icecream in his 14 years!! The line to get served moves quickly, and the staff are always happy to let you sample some of the flavours. The price is cheaper than most other places (€3 for 2 scoops, €3.50 for 3 scoops). If you opt for icecream in a cone, the staff will ask you if you want warm chocolate poured into the bottom of the cone before they add the icecream on top (at no extra charge - not like some other places we've visited in Rome). Make sure you opt in for the chocolate in the cone. It makes for a yummy way to finish your delicious dessert. If I could rate their icecream any...
Read moreI honestly cannot contain my excitement about Gelateria La Romana – this place has absolutely redefined what gelato means for me. It’s not just ice cream… it’s a whole experience, and hands down the BEST GELATO I’ve ever had in my life. No exaggeration.
For just €3.50, you get a cone that’s practically a work of art. First, they fill the cone with liquid chocolate (yes, CHOCOLATE at the bottom!), then you choose two incredible flavors, and they top it all with the most luscious, homemade panna (whipped cream) I’ve ever tasted. And if that wasn’t enough – they crown it with a cute little biscuit. I mean… who does that?! Nobody!
I picked Biscotto della Nonna and Pesto di Avellana, and WOW – they complemented each other like they were made to be together. Creamy, rich, flavorful, and just heavenly.
The whole vibe of the place is lovely too – super cute, cozy, and welcoming. Every detail shows care and passion, and it makes you feel like you’ve stepped into gelato paradise.
If you’re anywhere near a La Romana gelateria, RUN, don’t walk. I swear, you will never look at other gelato the same way again.
